When I read Tim LaHaye's book, “Why You Act the Way You Do,” I began to understand, manage, and relate with people better than before. In that book, it mentioned different characters ranging from Melancholic, Sanguine, Phlegmatic, and Choleric.
Among these four characters, I found out that I am a choleric with a mixture of phlegmatic traits. I am patient, bold, strong-willed, determined, confident, calm, and peaceful, sometimes too. I can be impatient and quick-tempered when things do not work out the way they are supposed to.
This is because humans are dynamic in nature with different characters that tend to manifest as our core values that guide our actions and inactions. I don’t give up easily, even when people say it is not working, let's leave it and move on, I tend to extend the window of trying. I normally would want to cross my T’s and dot my I’s before giving up on any decision or project I am handling. I ask questions like how, why, what, and where.
There was a time my team insisted we reject a candidate because he was late for an interview, but I objected to that decision. Though it was an unpopular decision, I strongly advised and politely cajoled them into giving the candidate a second chance. That candidate turned out to be the best and got the job.
Our characters often show in our core values. They are interwoven because those characters are what make us, and as such, what will determine the way we act, react, and make our life decisions. My core values guide my paths, providing me with the drive needed for my big and small wins.

Furthermore, some time ago, I had reasons to resign from my post when I found myself working in a toxic company. While I was seeking an exit door to join a better organisation, I still patiently carried out my daily roles. In those challenging moments, I was determined to make it into a better organisation. Within a few months of making that decision, I received a better offer and peacefully resigned.
However, there are other times when I tend to be quick-tempered and impatient because of delayed jobs or missing deadlines on my set goals. However, I don’t allow it to affect me. I recover quickly from such setbacks and bounce back to my goal.
In conclusion, my core values influence all the life decisions I have made and will make in the future, whether good or bad. They are my catalyst.

Many might not realise it, but the values we uphold defines how we relate with life and others. Ultimately becoming the determinants to our actions and behaviours. You have good values by the way.
