These days almost everyone has a phone, even little children from the age of 2. Funny how it has become something that they can't do without. Although phones help us to communicate, learn, unlearn, and stay entertained. But when we start using it too much, it slowly becomes an addiction, and it can affect our mental health in ways we may not notice.
When you get addicted to your phone, you have this urge to check your phone all the time, even when there is no reason for you to. It gets so bad that even when bathing, your phone goes with you to the bathroom, or even toilet, and even in meetings, you keep scrolling, switching apps, or picking up your phone every few minutes. Gradually it starts affecting your mind.
How you will know that your phone is beginning to influence your mental health is when anxiety hits you; if you are not using your phone, you become restless. If you mistakenly forget your phone at home or the battery is low. You become uncomfortable or dull, like someone that lost a close one. Wondering if someone might have called you or if a message might have dropped. This constant worry keeps the mind stressed.

The phone has made most of us commit blunders at work. Because of poor concentration, imagine working and watching TikTok videos before you know your mind is divided; every notification you respond to it, your brain starts juggling two things at a time. You lose focus on any task at hand, maybe reading, studying, or even having conversations with someone. The mind starts wandering up and down.
Phone addiction also affects sleep. In fact, I am one person who is guilty of this. I can watch short reels until very late at night, and I will have to wake up early for work. Because of this, the bright light from the phone and the excitement from one content to another make it difficult for the brain to relax. When I finally wake up in the morning, my eyes will be puffy, and i will be looking pale from lack of sleep!
Phone addiction doesn't mean that we should stop using phones completely but find a balance, reduce screen time, take breaks from social media when necessary, put our phones on do not disturb at night, and sleep. Let use our phones in moderation. Phones are helpful tools not a bondage

Thank💕 you for stopping by my blog.
This is so true, phone addiction has taken over a whole lot of us, and we didn't even see it as bad or being an addiction.
Moderation is indeed needed.
Thanks for sharing.
