Can anyone really survive in this world without family, be it immediate, distant or friends turn family? We all need someone at some point that we can rely on and do things with that becomes memorable and intimate. In all my life, family has played an important role in shaping who I become both immediate and distant, although because of distance in location it sort of deprived us of frequent meetings but it did not take away the fact that we were families as the bond is strong and commitment is a necessity.

This is why I have made up my mind that when I have my kids, I would make sure they get familiar with their cousins which is my brother's kids because with the way the world is going, family might be the only thing we have when it gets extremely tough. Teach them love and patience to not despise family.

My immediate family is everything to me because we share bond that has grown with us since childhood. Looking back now and the principles I inculcate into my career and lifestyle has been the values, habits and discipline that existed with me right from home, taught to me by my parents and people around me.

I learnt a great deal from my parents. My parents are Catholics and very strict as civil workers that choose to instill displine and good habits, so that the kids can be hardworking, resilient, independent and strong to face the harsh realities of life.

The home is the first ever school a child will attend, so when I see parents taking out their frustrations on teachers because their child lacks manners and blames them for it, I begin to wonder if leniency was not allowed at home and discipline was taught, it will only help the teach to instill other cognitive skills.

The thing about growing up is that when you have a supportive, caring and loving family, it can help you to grow and build up strength and self-worth. It allows you understand the fact that been confident and strong self esteem is created because people believe in you. At the same time, a difficult family is not a bad family because people or couples employs different methods to train and raise their kids, some and strict, nice, difficult and so on. They still teach resilience and independence.

In conclusion, family remains the powerful foundation of our character as we gather this through years of examples and experience. In the end, it has either a positive or negative effect on who we grow to be.
