The Opportunity I Missed: How Procrastination Closed a Door I Was Meant to Walk Through

HELLO HIVE

We don't always see the weight of procrastination until something important slips through our fingers, and we begin to regret not doing better; something we deeply wanted and needed slips our fingers from time with procrastination almost single-handedly causing most of this problem.

I have been wrapped up in many things only to accomplish little to nothing and be filled with regret, and for the others that I manage to complete,e, the standard is so bad that I was far from the required standard.

Years back I came across the Alx software engineering program, a program that aligned with my dream of becoming a software engineer in some of the best environments, I needed a laptop 💻 to be able to enjoy what I was doing and I had a chance to save once a while for it but I kept on procrastinating every day until I couldn't save enough to get the laptop,, at the end I spent the little I had saved in frustration.

I was getting the funds from the money I accumulated from my weekly post on the hive. Financially, I have been able to do a lot of things due to the hive's strong support of my finances as a student then. It supported my education in so many ways without which I probably wouldn't have graduated from school.

That's one thing I regret not accomplishing since it would have helped advance other areas of my life and posting on hive would have become better too.

The second one that's hurt a lot up till now is the time I couldn't utilize an opportunity that I had to learn how to play the keyboard 🎹 we were having classes then and I was doing so well at first because I had some level of musical knowledge before I started the class but then I couldn't continue after I got entangled in so many things at that point that I couldn't squeeze the time for it anymore.

My priorities were wrong at that point and it cost me the only chance I probably had to learn the piano 🎹 without stress at a very young age when I didn't have much on my mind that would occupy my thinking 🤔 ability at that time.

Sometimes, I had to lower my plans to a certain level far below what I could envision myself doing so that I wouldn't end up procrastinating just because the workload became so heavy that I couldn't carry anymore.

Procrastination happens more in our thoughts before it becomes a reality; it is a thing of the mind than the physical appearance. That's why we have to find a way to overcome that thought before we engage in anything.

At the end of successful task try to reward yourself it encourages you to do better with that reward serving as an inspiration for us,you can reward yourself by going to an expensive restaurant to eat and spend some time out once in a while this little encouragement go a long way in fighting the demon of procrastination.
