The State of Power Supply in My Area and Practical Ways to Improve It

HELLO HIVE

Electricity has gone from being a convenience to a lifeline; it plays an important role, in preserving food in our fridge, running businesses, whether large or small, and charging our phones.

It plays a vital part in the modern world, says, but even with this level of importance,e, it is still shocking that my area is still struggling for electricity supply at this point when we are already overly reliant on it.

Our world has tasted what it means to have a power supply compared to the last centuries when people had no idea anything like that existed yet they still lived happily 🤣 right now it's a commodity that we can't do without and meet up with this demand we need a good supply of electricity which I don't see happening anytime soon because of so many hindrances that I will share in this post.

The reality is grim right now and power outages have become part of our lives, some days we get some hours of supply while some days it is completely dark, an evidence of power supply is the loud sounds that you hear from children and adults because it has become a costly commodity that we have to wait hours to see prompting that level of excitement when we finally get it.

It is not unusual to spend the nights in complete darkness or to watch a business grind to a halt due to power outages mid-way through operations due to a sudden blackout.

Children struggle to study, families sleep uncomfortably at night, and hospitals struggle to power vital equipment.

I don't want to sit down holding my phone to bash the government, though I think they can also do better in this aspect. I will focus more on things that I think we can control ourselves.

For far too long, we have relied on one source of power; while the world has advanced using different other methods to generate their own electricity, we are still stuck with old equipment and old ways of doing things while we are experiencing modern-day results.

Every area is filled with old loaded transformers some of these transformers are over 30 years old and we still want this to serve our needs after working for that long, even the human body will depreciate after that long thing you could do when you where young and agile becomes difficult as we get old, so also machines, the more they get old the less strong they can operate.

That's why there are too many occasions where the supply is faulty and we have to go for days without power supply before the government finally looks at our direction.

Maintenance is either delayed or poorly done, The national grid is stretched thin, and rural areas like mine are often left behind.

A total revamp of all these transformers and electricity generating and supplying equipment will go a long way in improving things a bit.

The other thing is that the workload can be reduced once we can focus more on other ways of generating electricity, I don't know if Nigeria can have its own nuclear power station yet but I know it won't cost much to start implementing large solar power plants in rural and urban areas, this is more cheaper and easy to run that way we save a lot of money over time which can be used from other projects.

The situation might be tough but I don't believe it is hopeless once we embrace infrastructural development and push things forward on our own quota.
