LOOKING BACK: THE MISTAKES THAT MADE ME WISER

in SciFi Multiverse7 months ago

Hello everyone!
Mistakes are life’s greatest teachers. Every misstep carries a story, a lesson, and an opportunity for growth. Here are some of the mistakes I made, the stories behind and the lessons I learnt.

IGNORING HEALTH:
Some time ago, when I was still working in a salon, I'd overwork myself and most times I'll refuse to rest, from making one persons hair to another, at the same time I'll refuse to rest and eat all because I wanted to prove one stupid point to my other colleagues. I kept pushing myself despite the stress until I eventually broke down. I was taken to the hospital and started receiving treatment. I almost developed an ulcer all because of proving a point that doesn't mean anything.
LESSON: Burnout is real. Take care of your body and health before it's too late... Never ignore your health in the name proving a meaningless point.

PROCRASTINATION:
So I had a chance to apply for a scholarship two years back, a scholarship that maybe, would have changed my life, but I kept on putting it off thinking I had enough time. When I finally decided to apply, unknown to me the deadline had passed and ever since i've not seen such opportunity again. Still hoping for another one.
LESSON: If something is important, act on it now. Time waits for no man.

RUSHING INTO DECISIONS "IMPULSIVENESS"
Yes, most times rushing into decisions is not good. So I went to the market to get some textbooks I'll be needing for school. On getting to the market what I wanted to buy was not what I ended up buying. I saw some pair of sneakers, and I loved them so much. I knew I was expecting some cash the following week so I Just decided to get the sneakers with some matching jeans so I could wear them to church on Sunday and then get the textbook the following week, when the money I'm expecting drops. The week finally came and the money didn't drop. Haaa! And the deadline for the purchase of the text book was on Thursday and I was expecting the money on Tuesday.
The deadline finally came and I didn't have the money to get the textbook again "and buying it alone was supposed to earn us some marks". I just missed the free marks and the sneakers is no longer with me, Three weeks after I bought it, my cousin came and silently carried it along with her.
I missed both the textbook and the sneakers.
LESSON: Haste leads to mistakes, whether it's money, career or relationship. Take time to evaluate and think properly.

NOT ASKING FOR HELP:
Back then, while in secondady school, I wasn't so good in maths but I was the top best student in class, seeking help from my classmates was one thing I never wanted to do cause i felt like I knew more and was better than all of them. Time passed and I still didn't understand it too well, and so I wasn't doing too good in it and others that understood it better were now competing with me in terms of high grades. And all of a sudden because of maths i dropped from being the overall best to the 3rd best.
I had to drop pride aside and ask for help, cos... 3rd best was not what I wanted, I learnt from my class mates who were nice enoung to teach me and I became the top best again.
LESSON: seeking help isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign of wisdom. No one succeeds alone.

CONCLUSION
Mistakes are inevitable, but what truly matters is how we learn from them. Whether it’s missed opportunities, not asking for help, or ignoring personal growth, each mistake comes with a lesson. The key is to reflect, adapt, and move forward wiser than before.

Ps-- Have you ever made similar mistakes?
What mistakes did you learn?
