A Heart Of Gold

Human beings are wired differently. It is interesting how siblings, even twins who were born into the world on the same day, trained by the same parents, grew up with the same siblings and friends in the same house, will turn out to have different personalities. One might turn out to be an extrovert who likes loud music and enjoys dancing at parties, while the other might turn out to be the exact opposite; likes soft music and doesn't even like parties at all. Just as human beings have different personalities, we also have different values that we uphold in our daily lives. For example, one of my coursemates takes punctuality seriously. Whenever we had classes, they would make sure to get to the venue at least 30 minutes before the time, even if the lecturer wasn't sure to come.

On the other hand, I prefer to go to classes only when the class governor has confirmed that the lecture will be held. Sometimes I would get to the venue 5 minutes before the lecture starts. I would always ask my coursemate “what if I go to school and the lecturer doesn't end up coming?” Their reply was always that they would use the time to do something productive. This brings me to this week’s sci-fi multiverse prompt. The community asks us the core values we uphold. What challenges have you encountered when upholding or trying to uphold certain values?

KINDNESS

One of the values I try to uphold is kindness. I believe when it comes to my core values, kindness should be the first on the list. Two days ago, I wrote a post about a person who inspires me. I mentioned that Cristiano Ronaldo inspires me to be kind-hearted. For those who do not know Ronaldo. He is one of the few footballers who doesn't have tattoos. Why? Because he frequently donates blood. Ronaldo uses his resources to help the poor and the needy. One person who motivates and inspires me to be kind is Cristiano Ronaldo. The other person is my mom.

I grew up under the shed of my parents. Growing up, I watched my mom closely and paid full attention to all that she did. My mom is one of the kindest people I know. She could use her last penny to help someone in need. Sometimes, I wonder how she did it. There was a time when things were really hard for my family. We had bills to pay and my mom’s salary had not come in, my dad’s business wasn't going so well. The next days, my mom’s salary came in and we all expected that she would use the money to pay bills, keep some money for herself, and sort out the necessary things. To my surprise, after my mom paid the necessary bills, she sent out the remaining money to those in need.

I was pained. My siblings were angry. Why would my mom help people when she knows fully well that things aren't going well for the family? I used to be angry back then, but I've come to realize that this is the kind of person she is. I've also fallen in love with that part of her, and every day, I try as much as I can to be kind-hearted. The only challenge I experience is not having enough resources to help those in need.

I used to be angry too with my parents then but now I understand better. It's good to be kind to others

I was pained.

Honestly, this made me laugh as I can relate to the feeling and the frustration of not understanding why she'd give out the remaining money when we also need it. But still in her giving lies a lesson; "you don't need to have it all to be kind to others."

If only the whole world would embrace kindness, the earth could be a better place. But not all wishes are granted, right? The only thing in my power is to be kind😊.

Thank you for sharing❤️!

It's really nice having the resources to help people in need but when we help we are doing it for God and not them cuz most times the people will help might turn out to be ungrateful and unappreciative to it.

Good thing your mother's kindness is now living through you. One thing I have realized in life is that giving always comes back to us in a special way and also leaves a mark on us
