The Brain And Memory

As humans, our mind is quite powerful and useful. We can create scenarios in our head and they would seem so real. We can be quite creative especially when it comes to the things we love, even to the point of going overboard.Aristotle once made a statement which goes as thus " I think, therefore I am".It's a rather simple yet powerful statement made about the human mind.

As higher animals, who love to garner knowledge, our quest for it is insatiable, almost like an obsession even. It's our driving force and the reason for our very existence. A man without knowledge is useless in the society and can never be regarded.

It's the same quest for knowledge that has made us pursue careers, wanting to know more than our counterparts, and get recognised worldwide. This same quest for knowledge has made us such curious people, that we are no longer afraid of death.

This same quest for knowledge has made students burn the midnight candles, reading throughout the night, just so that they can pass their exams and graduate top of their class. This same quest for knowledge has made individuals travel the world, seeking for remedies and vaccines for deadly viruses that affect their locality.

This quest for knowledge has made people go to the moon, go to Mars and see if it can be habitable by humans, while still trying to figure out ways to make sure it is. This quest for knowledge has helped reduce the high mortality and morbidity rate of pregnant women, who die due to lack of proper information, adequate health care facilities and skilled personnel.

This insatiable quest for knowledge has made impossible things become possible, like travelling by air, owning smart house, a speedboat, an electric car and several other innovations that seemed impossible decades ago but has now being made into a reality.

Now, in as much as humans long for knowledge, they hate being controlled and restricted. That is why they have a problem with laws, because it restricts them from going over the edge in their constant quest for information.

The idea of inserting a chip into the brain of man is one that has been met with a lot of resistance. It contradicts the very nature of man, which is to think logically, while using Intuition as a guide.

Using myself as a case study, I like to think I have a creative yet independent mind. This means I don't believe that Installing a chip in my brain would help me think and remember things better. Even if it is true and the chip really helps people remember, I believe I don't need it.

I believe as a human being, what makes me superior from animals is my ability to think on my own. Taking away that attribute would render me useless. I would no longer be regarded as a human being but as a puppet, who can not do anything unless the inventor inputs some codes to help me think.

I would be regarded as a robot, that only understands codes and binary numbers. My ability to think independently would be taken away.Of what use would I be as a human if my ability to think independently is taken away, where someone would have access to my mind and thought process? Going back to Aristotle's statement "I think therefore I am", I won't be human anymore.

Yeah as humans what makes us different from other animals is our ability to think and coordinate things more than other animals.

Yes that's the main difference..
