I don't think there has been any thing more addictive than phones within the last decade. In this generation, phones have become an incurable addiction.
A good reason for this is the internet. Everything is online now. For starters, people make money online. People's businesses are online. This is a huge factor regarding phone addiction. Everyone wants to make money, so that's more reason to stay online.
An entrepreneur who is running a serious business has to have an online presence these days. People make efforts to push their brand online as much as possible. Hence the need to be with their phones. Doing this repeatedly leads to addiction, even If it's for a justifiable cause.
There's also social media these days. People have gotten so hooked on the entertainment social media brings. It's addictive. A lot of people find themselves scrolling endlessly on social media. That's how addictive it can be.
Also, people advertise their business. It's one of the cheapest and most free ways to advertise your brand these days. You get the audience you want for little cost.
Furthermore, things we do in our daily lives are online now. We order food online. We make payments online, we take courses exams online, we study online, we communicate with others online, we also host meetings online.
Seeing that all of these things are done online, it makes sense why phones are addictive.
Not being with your phone these days can seem to many like they are missing out on the world. When you think about it, news usually breaks first on social media. Trends can be tracked online. It's obvious that being online is crucial to being informed.
In conclusion, addiction to your phone could be a positive or negative thing depending on what you use your phone for. If you're using it to make money and promote your business, maybe it's a good thing, as long as it doesn't have negative effects on other parts of your life. However, if it is just for scrolling and entertainment on social media and no value is being gained, then the addiction is not good.
