In today's world phone has become one of the most important assets especially to young people. Some uses it for something beneficial and some only uses it as something tools to cure boredom, but the question is does it really cure boredom? Your response is as good as mine. Now the major problem about this phone now a days is that it has become a core part of our lives and at times we can't even survive for 2 hours without our phone. It makes us feel as if we are missing something. And when it happens like that, you will agree with me that the person is addicted to the phone.
Now in as much as phone is important to us and do help us to carry a lot of task, it's addiction also becomes a problem if not well managed. It is often said that everything that has advantages also comes with its disadvantages, same is applicable to being addicted to phone. It's disadvantages is numerous, but I will list just a few.
Being addicted to phone is to some extent dangerous, why ? I told my friend the other day, that our phone draws us closer to people that are far away from us, then distance us from those that are closer to us. And this act is a bit dangerous. Because , you might be in the same house with someone but no body in the house will know what's wrong with you, at times you prefer sharing it on social media or talking to distant friends. Now just imagine there is an emergency that needs urgent attention, people around you might never know but people afar might know and before they come to your rescue or aid, it might be too late.
Remember the communal spirit that existed in different communities in the past. people will always go out in the evening to visit their neighbors, sit and talk and this act alone help their mental health and also help relive stress, but in today's world, we bury our faces in our phones.
Furthermore, being addicted to phone might lead to depression, in the sense that most of the things we see on social media are not true but mirrage. So seeing those things might make you feel depressed as if you have not made any progress in life.
Phone addiction disturd our sleeping pattern and lead to poor sleep quality and this has a way of affecting our mental health. Now a days we sleep at early hours of the following day. I think I am also guilty of this. It breeds low self esteem, in as much as it helps in reducing stress it also increases mental stress.
To this end, I feel to remedy this , we must be intentional about controlling our screen time. Self discipline is the key. Engage yourself in physical activities that keeps you off phone. Doing these and many more will help manage the addiction.

This is so true.
Phone has quietly replaced genuine and real connections for us and we didn't even see it as an addiction yet.
And as you've rightly stated, self-discipline is needed to break free.
Thanks for sharing.
