To me, core values are qualities I hold so dear because they shape my life. They influence how I make decisions and how I interact with people. Among my values, three stand out the most: honesty, kindness, and discipline
Honesty is my number one core value. It has really earned me trust and respect from people around me. As a seamstress, honesty has kept me away from trouble and helped me build a good reputation in my business. For instance, if a customer forgets money in a cloth or overpays me, I always return it. In this line of work, being truthful about fabrics, prices, and delivery times goes a long way in making customers feel safe with me. The challenge I face, however, is that people often laugh at me and say I know nothing. Some even say I claim to be holy, but I’d rather hold on to my values than lose myself to the crowd.
Kindness follows closely. Whenever I’m kind to people, there is this inner peace and joy that flows from within me. I remember one time I showed kindness to a young boy selling tiger nuts on the street. His tray fell and everything poured on the ground. It was raining, and no one cared to help. On my way from work, I stopped, bent down, and helped him pack them back. After everything, he was so happy that he offered me some of the nuts, but I rejected and told him not to worry. Sometimes, though, people take acts of kindness for granted. They think you are doing it to get something in return, or they try to take advantage of your soft heart.
Finally, discipline. It is the last but not the least. Without discipline, I would not make it in this fashion designing business. Sewing requires patience, consistency, and self-control. There are days I feel tired, yet I push myself to meet deadlines. Discipline helps me manage my time well, stay focused on my goals, and ensure every outfit I make is neat and professional.
In conclusion, honesty, kindness, and discipline are not just words to me, they are the compass that guides my daily life. Though challenges exist, I believe staying true to these values will continue to shape my growth and success.
