Greetings!
Natural disasters are one of those things that can and have often wreaked havoc on the environment and in extension, to the human race and when I said the human race, it's in many ways sent some to their early grave and also, render some people homeless. Aside from that, it's made some lose their loved ones and dash people's hopes as the case maybe.
So, natural disasters are not a good thing at all. When talking about natural disasters, it might come in diverse ways or better still, let me say that disaster comes in the way of flood, fire outbreak, erosions disease outbreaks just to mention but a few.
All the aforementioned natural disasters are not good at all as they only exist to destroy lives and properties.
So, in my today write up and in my response to the sciFi multiverse weekly prompt, i would be sharing with us, the most provoking natural disaster i have ever witnessed.
Recently in my area and due to the ongoing raining season, there's a provoking over flow of water from a nearby waterways and this overflow really wreaked havoc on our neighborhood in the form of floods. Every house and homes were touched by this flood and in fact, it took over our streets and sacked almost every home in the community.
In the build up to the rainy season, people were sensitized about how they were to dump their refuse and where and where not to dump their refuse. They (my community) were advised not to dump their refuse on the water ways, but it's so disturbing when the rainy season has fully come that i saw people in their numbers carrying their refuse to the waters that passed across our community.
When I saw them, I tried to call and draw their attention to the seminar we had and the warning that followed the seminar that nobody should in any way dump their refuse on the water ways, but these people in the community turned deaf ear to me and went ahead to dump their refuse on the water ways.
In fact, some of them started mocking me and calling me names. One of them Mr. Ade was even calling me “government” but since I had no power of my own, I kept quiet.
So, not long to the time of warning them, the unexpected or let me say, the expected (for me) happened and it's the overflow of the water ways that ran over the community in the form of flood to destroy properties worth millions of naira, lives and other valuable things.
The flood wreaked havoc to the extent that almost everyone was sacked from their own with some losing their loved ones to the cold hand of death through the havoc wreaked by the flood.
Although, some of them were of the opinion that everything that happened was spiritual as they said, it's the mermaid that's angry and that it's occurred in the past before the recent one, but i kept on telling them that it's not the mermaid that got angry with them, but their acts of dumping refuse on the water ways which had blocked the flowing of the water thereby flowing back into the community.
But even at my explanation, they would not believe me. Though, the government came to assist those that lost their properties with stipend, but what of those that lost their lives in the unfortunate incidents caused by people's negligence which would have been avoided had it been they yielded to the needed advice and warnings.
In conclusion, something that should have been easily controlled now claimed a huge number of lives and properties due to the negligence of the people. This shows that at times, natural disasters can be put under control if people are ready to play their own parts.
This is my entry to the sciFi multiverse weekly prompt.

It is always sad when we lose people , neighboors in floods like this =(
Yeah , it's terrible. Thanks for stopping by.
Flooding is one disaster that often comes with warnings, yet neglecting simple precautions like proper waste disposal makes the damage worse. It’s sad that lives and properties were lost, all because people ignored advice and chose superstition over preventive action.
People should actually be lectured on the effect of dumping refuse in the river.
