My Web3 Journey

The Web3 ecosystem really is massive, and quite frankly, each discussion with fellow enthusiasts serves as a reminder of how little I know. My own journey began via my little brother - he was heavily involved in crypto trading and his enthusiasm slowly wore off on me. You know how siblings are; they just keep talking about a subject until you can't help but listen.

If I'm being completely honest, my first impression of Web3 was that it was scammy. This was back when I was trying all those online opportunities, and I was getting scammed by all those mining apps that were promising the world for minimal effort. You know the ones - they paint you these pictures of easy money that are too good to be true, and to be honest, they usually are. Having been scalded by several of these scams, my mind was fairly poisoned against all things crypto.

Bitcoin was my real introduction to actual cryptocurrency - I mean, isn't that where everyone begins? Followed by the Telegram mining projects like Notcoin, and before that, PI coin. Binance was my first actual platform, and mining was where I really started to look into the space more.

My change of heart was a gradual one. My brother's persistence, as well as learning about blockchain technology for real, caused me to begin seeing more clearly. I started to notice that there was real, concrete technology backing legitimate projects - not just get-rich-quick scams I'd encountered before.

My best win moment was probably when PI coin finally listed and pumped to above $2. In retrospect now, was it that awesome considering the hours per day we spent mining? Well, free money at the end of the day, so I'd still count that as a win nonetheless.

I heard about Hive through another brother (not my crypto trading brother), and I must say, it's been an eye-opener. I've been on it for only a few weeks now, and I'm already all in on the ecosystem.

My most loved feature of Hive is the reward system and investment strategy. Crypto investment usually works like - buy low, wait for it to rise, hopefully sell high. But Hive? Provided that you are upvoting, posting, engaging, and you have sufficient Hive Power, you just continuously grow regardless of the price rising or falling. The threshold for loss is so, so low, and it just is. ridiculously ideal, honestly.

I'm just so surprised there aren't more people on here. The model just appears so sustainable and lucrative for those who are engaged.

Looking Ahead...

I'm holding out at present to get a job or to see how my online efforts pan out before I make my next move. My thought is to invest a set amount monthly to buy Hive Power - building that foundation on a regular basis rather than trying to make one big investment.

My advice to a newcomer to Web3 would be: do not let get-rich-quick culture distort your view of the entire ecosystem. There is incredible, genuine tech and communities being built.

Do not rush into what you're getting involved with. Start small, learn as you go, and find platforms like Hive where you can grow by contributing, not solely speculating.

The advise for newbies is quite valid, many believe crypto is a get rich quick scheme.
