Sleep is magnificent. It is the reset for your body. I see sleep as therapy. It's a remedy for a state of stress.

We live in a world filled with a lot of responsibilities and stressors. Everyday is a hassle. You wake up and there's one problem or another that needs to be solved. It could be money problems, how to get the next meal, a conflict with another person and so much more.

For an average individual, when they wake up, the stress begins. Stress in getting ready for work. There's also stress on the road. The noise, the rowdiness, all add up to stress. It's worse if you have to take public transportation.

It could be you're seated uncomfortably in a bus because the space is too small and many people are jam-packed. This can put your body under stress that you start to have body pains. The noise that comes from some of the public vehicles alone is enough to give one a headache. If you add that to the intensity of the sun as it hit you on your way to work, you'd realize that your stress begins right from the morning and into the day.

Even going to the market is a hassle. There's usually so much crowd, so little space. You have to squeeze and manoeuvre your way just to get through. It's usually so noisy that you have to strain to hear and shout when communicating with who you want to buy from.

After all the stress of the day, the body gets worn out. Tired and exhausted. It's fascinating how few hours of sleep refreshes the body after untold amount of stress.

Sleep is like the ultimate fix. The energy returns after sleep. Most times, body pains go away after a good sleep. This is why it is said that sleep is therapeutic. It has healing effects.

I believe sleep also has an effect on emotions. There are times when people feel sad and after a good sleep they feel better. The upsides to sleep are enormous. This is why people shouldn't joke with their sleep.
