As responsible members of Hive, we all play a part in governance. Choosing witnesses and accepting proposals. When is your Hive Governance Day?
A few months ago, I was energized by a call for Hive members to take responsibility and check their votes. Sadly, I can't remember who to thank for that. But I did set myself a quarterly reminder to check my witness and proposal votes.
Hive Witness Governance
I know of 2 types of Hive Witness for us to vote on. Both with many choices of frontend pages from which to vote. If there are other types of Hive Witness, please let me know.
Hive Block Producers
We each have 30 votes for Hive Witnesses, known as Block Producers. And I prefer to vote for mine at the PeakD Witnesses page.
I prefer this voting page because it has a lot of information about each witness. I know that everyone will have their own opinions about how to select their witnesses. My opinions are…
- Liotes should be #1
- Everyone should stop voting for inactive witnesses
I realize that many of the votes for dead witnesses are from dead accounts. But many are not. Please check yours now.
Hive Engine Witnesses
For Hive Engine Witnesses, I use the Tribaldex Witnesses page.
As you can see, I forgot to vote last month. But now that I have my quarterly reminder set, this shouldn't happen again. Because Hive Exchange Witness votes last for 180 days.
However, it doesn't really matter. Because Hive Exchange Witness votes are powered by your holding of staked WORKERBEE tokens. And I delegate mine to @ph1102 to support Liotes. You can (and should) do the same. By staking WORKERBEE tokens to yourself. Then delegating the staked tokens to @ph1102.
Hive Proposals
There's not much to choose between Ecency Hive Proposals and PeakD Hive Proposals. Though, I prefer PeakD's treatment of Expired Proposals. So select the one that suits you best. Or tell me if you think there's a better Hive Proposals Voting Page.
Your Hive Governance Day
I hope that you will set a reminder to vote regularly on Hive. And please tell me if you think that I've missed anything.
Thanks for this, I learned new things, again. I usually vote on ecency, peakD and also hive.blog (maybe more then first two), everywhere when it pops out as a note. 🙉
Thanks for dropping by. I also tend to vote on proposals as I see them. And now I have this routine to make sure I don't miss any.

Good advice, we should all be using our vote no matter the size. Where do you get your WORKERBEE tokens from?
Thank you.
Mostly from the LENM:LEN liquidity pool. Though I've been changing things recently. So a post about the full story is overdue - thanks for reminding me.

Oh really! Hmm I should put my LEN and LENM there then. Thanks for that.
I would like to read that, you've got me intrigued now..
Sorry @tengolotodo. I misremembered the WORKERBEE source. I'm just going out but I will update you later.
Ah no worries
I take a look at the witness page about once a fortnight, but since spinning up my own witness node a few weeks ago - I check it a lot more often - as well as monitoring it closely via the virtual machine it is encased in. I am very proud and vocal of the fact that my witness node exists in my own house, and it is something I own, can touch, and fix if it breaks. :)
I love this post
There are many things that happen on hive that new users are unaware of.
I didn't know about witness or proposals until recently
I will prioritize partaking in the politics on Hive to help grow the ecosystem
Thanks for the shoutout and for your support! Appreciate it! 🙏
It's a great idea to have a reminder about your witness votes, and maybe to share new votes and the reason behind them... 🍻
