A soul, an ideal

In her "State of the Union 2021" address, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen quoted one of the EU Founding Fathers, Robert Schuman: "Europe needs a soul, an ideal, and the political will to serve this ideal"

Perfectly true for every common project, for every collaboration, including business ventures. Remember the famous quote "Culture eats strategy for breakfast "? Where do you think the "culture" of a business comes from, and how does it form? It comes precisely from the "collision" between the stated ideal, the "mission statement" and "vision" on one hand, and the way things unfold concretely on the field year after year as a consequence of the application of whatever "political will" there is. Thus hypocrisy (stating something grand but not meaning it and weaseling about) generates a culture of hypocrisy.

The same applies to Hive: Hive needs a soul, an ideal and the governance to pursue that ideal. Just having top notch technology is not enough. Just having a "unit of account" is not enough. We need a higher ideal.

I said this in the past, with different words, in the time of steem:

"Steem Social Lab: we need a charter"

i am VERY interested to hear your "ideal" for Hive @sorin.cristescu, and how you would structure a governance system to pursue that higher ideal.

i have ideas around this myself. Actually it is and has been a major focus for me for nearly two years. Not necessarily, but ideally for Hive. i would love to share with you a particular system which incorporates an anonymous Community Concentrated Consensus Mechanism.

But you go first, if you would like to share your ideas.

I think Hive is best positioned to be the economic and monetary platform for a "virtual country" - a country with no territory but with a people, the Hiveans, brought together by the will to create new value, common prosperity and do good.

As a financial platform, Hive can provide the "central bank" function of a country and undergird its economy.

New value, which will bring sustainable value to the currency and encourage exchanges with the outside world, will be created by the many possible applications:

• creating and spreading knowledge - Hive can support journals, a "Quora-like" application, a "Medium-like application"
• contracting - like back in the time of Utopian
• charitable giving and crowdfunding - like back in the time Fundition
• distributed storage (I sketched out a "Storj-" or "Filecoin-like" application called Steembit in an older article)
• personal archiving / customer service application (I wrote about this in "My blockchain memory")
  AND of course
• games (Splinterlands, Exile game, dCity, etc)

I would all the community around the blockchain and its applications, around this "virtual country" the Hive Republic
