Nuestra tradición navideña mas antigua en casa es la preparación de los platillos de la noche, incluyendo el platillo típico he indispensable de todos los venezolanos en estas fechas, la hallaca. Nosotros siempre hacemos esta comida el mismo día de navidad, para poder disfrutarlas frescas como se merecen.
Our oldest Christmas tradition at home is the preparation of the evening dishes, including the typical and indispensable dish of all Venezuelans at this time of the year, the hallaca. We always make this food the same day of Christmas, so we can enjoy them fresh as they deserve.
Aunque nosotros ayudemos en muchas cosas, es mi abuela quien hace la magia haciendo la masa para las hallacas y para rellenarlas. Del resto nosotros le ayudamos en la mayoría de las cosas.
Although we help in many things, it is my grandmother who does the magic making the dough for the hallacas and for stuffing them. The rest we help her with most of the things.
Aparte de eso, mi hermana adopto la costumbre de hacer dulces de acompañamiento para hacer una cena mucho mas completa. Ella siempre tira la casa por la ventana con sus dulces y aquí estoy yo disfrutando del chocolate casero que será parte de nuestra noche.
Aside from that, my sister adopted the custom of making sweet side dishes to make a much more complete dinner. She always goes all out with her sweets and here I am enjoying the homemade chocolate that will be part of our evening.
Ya mientras todo se termina de hacer, yo estoy trabajando fuertemente para que nada falte y al mismo tiempo pendiente de que las risas no falten. Esta es nuestra tradición mas antigua y quería mostrárselas a todos, feliz navidad a todos.
While everything is being done, I am working hard to make sure that nothing is missing and at the same time making sure that the laughter is not lacking. This is our oldest tradition and I wanted to show it to everyone, Merry Christmas to all.
