So let me share with you guys a brief story about my dream when I first discovered this blockchain...
I owned multiple online marketing businesses and when PayPal decided to shut my entire industry down, I immediately started looking for a new home online. This blockchain was it! I brought my entire marketing community over there are still some very active members here on chain. This place was perfect!
Well, not EXACTLY perfect because two big things where missing from the experience here. Recurring subscriptions (which actually became a reality here a few years ago) and the ability to build one's mailing list directly on chain.
I struggled for years to build a front end that would allow for creators to build their mailing lists a la SubStack on chain. But my tech ability was next to nil, so while I had huge plans to see it implemented, it just never became a reality.
And then along comes @ecency a few days ago :)
Here's a Tweet I saw earlier today and apparently they actually launched an email list building feature a few days ago - You can read about it here on their blog post!
O.k., let me get this RIGHT out of the way now....I absolutely love the feature. And here's the best part about it, you can build your list for free right now just by getting people to subscribe to your account:
If you are not yet subscribed to the creator, there will be a big button that says 'Email Digest' found on their profile.
So your subscribers get notices when you publish new content. It's a double opt in system, so make sure you check your email folders and confirm once you subscribe to people. And make sure you do :)
Here's the part I discovered while poking around their official blog post....
When you subscribe to Ecency Pro, you actually get to customize the messages that are sent and the frequency of them.
Please note....Ecency Pro is 20 bucks a year, while most auto responder and email marketing software costs that or more each month. So Ecency Pro is going to be a no brainer for this guy.
And this just got me SUPER excited about bringing my passion back on chain.....Online marketing. The ideas are already flowing!!!

I absolutely love this and while some may think email marketing is something from the dinosaur age, believe me...This is absolutely huge for people that want to build a strong following and relationship with their readers!

Glad to see you like the Newsletter feature. We think anyone who finds post or profile online should be able to subscribe and content creators, community owners should be able to communicate with those readers as well. So that’s why all your posts has subscribe footer as well, community admins can also send digest to their readers by composing it from multiple creators/content.
love it. brilliant stuff. and really makes the blockchain a one stop shop for creators

I think one of the biggest challenges on Hive is keeping in touch with readers when they don't visit the platform regularly. This may change it.

That's a pretty cool idea, that if you are willing to disclose your email. But nevertheless for those willing this comes like a glove.
i'm pretty sure only ecency has access to the emails. they should be pretty trustworthy with them
What a great addition. This supports what hive still does best: Substack kind of social media.
Ecency got that part more than most other projects on Hive
Yup, it's really been something I wanted to see here on chain. And when I wanted it on my own front end, welp...lol that never materialized.
You sure did try, but you were dependent on one dev.
Ecency has more than one and I’m pretty sure they use AI to speed up development. While still making sure that everything is verified and tested by a human dev.

I think that is a nice feature, and it does make them stand out from the other front--ends. Though with all the things going on, I don't know if I want my email to be filled up even more with things.
which is fair, but it's still one of the greatest forms of communication these days. there are certain emails I make sure I see when they arrive in my inbox. the job we have now is to make those emails desired
Yes, this is a really cool feature. Now, the challenge for me is figuring out how to get people to register their emails and become subscribers. Perhaps you could share some methods later, drawing on your experience and online marketing skills.
Of course, this will differ slightly from the email marketing we’re used to, as we’ll be building a list tailored to a specific niche. On Ecency, we can post about anything on our accounts—it isn't niche-specific.
yeah and i think thats how your personal brand on chain will come into play. the better relationship with your audience, the more subscribers you will attract
