A journal is a great way to organize and clarify your thoughts, and as you mentioned, put out to the universe what you want to attract into your life. My negative journal entries always resulted in unhappy life experiences, but when my writings became more positive, it was reflected in my life.

That's another interesting experiment with journaling. I write only a few negative entries that I always include the possible resolution to it. But you're right, when the entries is more positive, somehow it can be reflected into our life too.
