Art is a leaning-towards:
an incline of the soul
unto the grand intuited,
into the radiant whole
whose spark is veiled by form;
whose essence, dim beheld
in play of light and shadow;
in shadow seems to meld
with coy and graceful step
that draws one further on.

Art is a leaning-towards:
—anticipation bright—
of what may be seen
at knowledge's sweet dawn,
sweet dawn of sweeter light
that draws me further on.
