RE: It's Tuesday 8th September 2020! Drop A link To An Undervalued Post For Chance Of Resteem Upvote And Tweet (or Leave Me A Comment And I'll Check Out Your Blog)

I'm somewhat new around here, though I've been keeping an eye on Steem off and on for quite some time. I'd originally avoided Steem because the bar for joining was somewhat high, but after I heard about Hive I figured I'd check it out and in doing so I learned it was much easier to join Hive than it was to join Steem those many years ago.

I recently published a guide to installing Manjaro Linux, though it's gotten very little interaction and I've yet to receive any feedback on it.

My impressions of Hive are for the most part good, I am however, somewhat concerned as it seems to have some resemblance to a pyramid scheme. That could just be a misunderstanding though of how things work, I'll have to use it a bit longer before I know for sure. What have your experiences been?

Welcome to Hive!

Firstly, thanks for dropping by. I visited your blog and Reblogged, Upvoted and Tweeted this

I get your concerns about Hive. There are investors on the platform and it is their job o make money for themselves! That said Hive is not a get rich quick platform and making money via curating posts is quite competitive.

For "normal" people it is a great place to blog. You might even get some financial reward but if you treat it like a blogging platform and interact with people and try to have fun that is the best approach.. For me anyway.

Have you tried joining @theterminal? They offer new people helpful advice and support. A lot of that is done on Discord (joining community groups on discord is really helpful on hive)

Good luck, have fun and drop by next time you post and say hi

Thanks!

I'm not very fond of blogging formats in general, nor am I what most would consider a "normal" user of anything. I'm considering setting up a privacy-oriented witness node as there seems to not be any.

There's major issues with Discord that make it a no-go platform for myself, some are shared with other big tech platforms and some aren't. I'll likely make a write up on these issues eventually, and maybe I'll start up a community on a more privacy friendly platform as well.

My biggest issue with Hive so far has been how slowly RC regenerates, though I'm aware that's tied to how many VESTS you have. My current amount is limiting and I can't comment quite as much as I'd like to. I figure I'll eventually have enough for that no longer to be an issue though, In fact, I just had a friend gift me a little Moneroj so I could exchange it for Hive because I was too impatient to wait three more hours to comment this, so that will probably fix the waiting.

I have had a great experience with Hive. Sure it's not perfect (but what is) and u feel strongly Hive as a blockchain, and the members in general could benefit enormously if the DPOS governance system were changed to a Pure Democracy. However there is not such a system in operation yet (although The Matrix-8 Solution is forthcoming), and it would first need to be tested with a smaller group if people, so a Hive Community with their own token would be perfect I think.

But I don't see Hive as a pyramid scheme at all. Sure there is (just recently) a Hive onboarding incentive, but it's small and only one level.
