I've re-written this post numerous times just so that I get it right. I started off with my own personal thoughts of what I wanted in 2021 but I realised it's bigger than me as always.
As we reach the last few days of 2020, we reflect back on what has happened, what could have happened and what's next. This year has definitely marked itself as the most significant year in all centuries and will probably be the most talked about year for a long time. Just as how we remember WW1, WW2, the rise of Jesus Christ, the creation of nuclear bomb and many others. Comparing to all other emergence of illness, 2020 would be the most deadliest of all.

So, when @zord189 HIVE contest came out this week about 2021, I guess it's more of the what's next. For me, I had only ONE on my list of what's next. And that's to see my family in person.
I've been away from home for more than 9 months, the longest I've ever been away and entering into 2021 just confirms that I would still be away from them for another 3 or more months. With the quarantine period on both countries not getting any lesser or easier, one can only pray for many like myself who wishes to see their family. Although we understand the reasons for the quarantine and why precaution is important, we cannot help to think that this would be our future. Movement within countries remain to be strict except for the few selected ones such as Singapore who welcome everyone with open arms. For many others, it would be to remain within their own country or worst in their own county or city.

As I'm in the hospitality & lodging industry, it is very unpredictable as we rely on foreigners to enter into this country and stay with us; be it for business or leisure. However, with the regulations for entry being so difficult and expensive, many will opt not to enter unless necessary. Which is also the reason why I am unable to return home - it would cost me no less than USD5,000 for a return trip.
My boys have gotten taller over the 9 months I've been away. The eldest is now 5ft 9 inches and the younger one is already 4 ft 7 inches. I'm missing so much of their growing up that it pains me tremendously. That's 2021 and I believe it will be for many of us out there. Being away from our loved ones will remain for 2021 as countries will not want to open up its borders.

Then again, if borders are not open, the countries economy will be stagnant and people will suffer financially. More people will loose their jobs and will eventually turn to criminal activities just to survive. I know I'm sounding very negative but this is indeed the true facts of life.
I do hope that with the vaccines available widely and affordably to all, all this negativity will not happen but it is only wishful thinking. The que for these so-called tested vaccines are long and will probably take months before it can be certified by WHO. By then, many would have fallen deep into depression.
Is there hope at the end of 2021? I deeply pray there is though the light is dim for many. We can only handle so much misery and death in 1 year and 2020 has gotten it all. Let 2021 be the beginning of the end and that the LIGHT will brings us all back together. We desperately need to survive through it all and if 2021 isn't the beginning of the end of these sufferings, I cannot imagine what other worst global hardships can be brought to us.

We've seen many movies where the end is good but perhaps these are stories end at a good point so that viewers like us feel happy with it. What is to be expected for 2021? No one can say for sure but I choose to have faith that it will be better.
Families will be reunited by Q3 the latest.
Economies will slowly rise up towards end of the year.
Travelling remain to be restricted.
Politicians gain more power over the sufferings of its people.
Depression is the main downfall for everyone be it young or cold.
Anything to do with online will prevail and succeed tremendously.
That's my thoughts for 2021..
What is yours ?
