Market Friday In Champagne Valley

Bead Man And Crimson Tree

Typical of most humans we pack for a week away and will always forget something at home, a good excuse to visit the local stores to see what is on offer. Many small country towns offer a wide variety in very small shopping centers.

Yes it was drizzling so another excuse to go pick up some butter, actually this region is extremely compact with stores, a bakery that @lizelle mentioned was a not to be missed, for another day, although we did have brunch there on this day out!

What caught my eye on driving into this small shopping mall was a crimson bush of staggering colour, the building disappeared behind it's beauty. I have no clue what it is other than it had my attention.

Bead man, as we went upstairs past the blue post office boxes, yes snail mail delivery still very much in place a friendly face greeted, inviting us to take a look at his handy work.

Working with wire and beads he crafts the most amazing flowers and birds, my brother purchased a bird seen below,

I bought a baobab tree which I will reveal once completed with decor of LED lighting already purchased on arrival back home. Wire wound into the shape of the baobab (my favourite tree) immediately "shouts out" for being used for lighting display, or Christmas tree with small beaded boxes which were available for purchase, I lent toward more permanent than annual display using lighting would be amazing! Wait to see once arranged for photography.

Below I have inserted his details since many artists like in other places of the world are creating some magnificient pieces never being found. Imagine those Protea flowers set on a table in restaurants, a rinse and they are clean, always beautiful! Contact Details: Drakensberg Beads, Beaded Animals, Hand Made, 13 Cedarwood Village, Champagne Valley on Cell +27798472364 should you be interested give him a direct call. I promised to give him some exposure, every little helps when so far from cities.

Wind chimes sounded from more wooden displays along the corridor before reaching the next entertaining hand crafts of quotes hanging outdoors on display, even through tough times and turmoil never lose that sense of humour, it keeps us sane.

Some easy ideas to work with, make life entertaining, we tend to become swamped by too much information, never accepting easy going advice... to just let go!

Right at the end of this passage was a neat looking coffee bar, alas we did not stop here since we planned a trip down to The Bakery for brunch.

To the right side of the building was a small supermarket with butter we needed and a few other supplies, a cheese shop, restaurant and bottle store in the center of the building where stairs came up, not requiring anything from these stores we did not enter them, each shop spotlessly clean with staff eagerly waiting patrons.

Next time we will visit The Bakery, when Denise has returned from her short break, take time and relax, we all need it and deserve it!

Now, there's a very different kind of mall. I had never seen anything like that! I dig it! Great article! 😉

One meets the most friendly and unusual people living in rural areas, conducting business is completely different to cities, more interesting and very much more fun @trincowski thanks for visiting and kind comment.

I just love that little blue Kingfisher, great that you've given the artist's details here.
How difficult it is to let go of that baggage not so!
I'm so glad you had brunch at the Bakery, we thoroughly enjoyed their menu; such a quaint place.
We always buy sourdough bread on the way home and on one trip it had just come out of the oven and the car smelt like a bakery all the way home;)
Thank you for sharing Champagne Valley with us, looking forward to the next installment!

I made a promise to the "Bead Man" to share his details out since they are struggling up there as you well know. He proudly stood showcasing his work for me to photograph him and his finished products.

The Bakery we ended up going to twice, on the way home stopped for breakfast, bought a couple of loaves of sourdough bread, health bread and short bread for home (quite honestly have 2 sons at home could have bought a lot more)...

Next installment will about the birdlife @lizelle have a wonderful weekend.

The crimson tree is eye-catching Joan. Bead man did a lovely job on the kingfisher. I would have bought the hen too- not that I need anymore things around but it has open back for storage.

I got a chuckle out of the signs. :) Looking forward to seeing your baobab tree.

Have a pleasant Sunday!

Tree was eye popping beautiful, the beaded hen was dual purpose for placing eggs into or using as an ornament.

Baobab tree has not worked out quite the way my son had hoped, tried winding the lights into the tree, however should still look great when he finishes it, he has a thing about lamps and lighting... Lava lamps, salt crystal lamps you name it he has bought many over the years, switches use according to mood :)

Thanks for visiting Jo and have a great day up North too.

Thank you so much for taking part in #MarketFriday. You did not disappoint!! I am so happy that there were some of you that put in a post this week anyway. It was strange to be sitting here and not having to put together a post for tomorrow night. But, I do apologize for being so late getting the replies back so late this week. I failed to say last week that #MarketFriday has been going on for three and a half years and I have missed a couple, but, very few. Normally, if I am on vacation without internet, I try to find some to post, but, like I said, there were a few that missed. As you can see, I didn’t tip this week!!! It has nothing to do with you, but, they changed the way I buy it and post it, so I will be looking into that!!! How can I post and comment without the tip? They all bounced back to me this week, so my apologies!

I hope you are all taking the time to collect new pictures for #MarketFriday while we are taking the time off from the challenge. As I said, feel free to collect some pictures at the markets or other places. I am not going anywhere, posting as usual, and will be back, but, for the challenge to be done right, it takes a fair amount of time. :)

The entire challenge has migrated from a stroll through a market to a cultural extravaganza. ! It really surprised me, but, also delights me to know how much effort people put into it. It pointed out our differences in the beginning, but, then, it really started showing how many things our cultures share. When the day is done, it shows off how human we all are and how we basically all care about our families and others. I love the experience of it all. I appreciate the love and support given to #MarketFriday! Thank you! Truly!
Your participation adds a piece of your world, and I have to say, people are interested in is seeing it. This entire challenge has opened up the world to me and so many others. Thank you again for being a part of all this!

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Upped and reposted

Yes I noticed my tip bounced back when I arrived back from leave as well, still need to look into how this new system works as well, no problem we will all settle in again and be back up to full steam in a week or two 😉

Seeing all the places and adventures shared over the years, even though I do not do much content I thoroughly enjoy #marketfriday seeing the most unusual places.

Glad you enjoyed the little rural style shopping mall, not the biggest but loads of fun.

Wishing you an amazing week @dswigle
