It's been cool and wet for the last few days with a real heavy rainfall just the other day.
After that when the sun breaks out, everything begins to pop!
The young horses were taking a break relaxing in the sunshine!

Further down the road our other neighbor's horses were at the fence wanting to greet us.

I gave them some good scratches!I can't get over how friendly they are!
As I was watching them a pair of geese flew over honking loudly!

I caught a couple more shots of them flying by.

The geese had landed in a field near by and were honking at me. I was too close so they didn't settle there but took off in flight still honking!
The Canada Geese are often referred to as honkers for they are constantly honking while flying so you can always hear them coming.
Have a listen and watch them take flight...
Over at the pond there were, what I figured, were a pair of Barrow's golden eye ducks with a juvenile swimming with them. The three swam together so I figured the smaller one must have been part of the family.

There was also a pair of bufflehead ducks and the male had swam up to the golden eyes.

Up in the tree tops a raven was calling.

Have a listen in as he was calling to another raven.
That lasted for a bit and as I got closer he took off which luckily I was able to catch him in flight!

Even further along our walk I spied a pair of killdeer. We must have been near her nest for she was doing the broken wing routine.

Meanwhile the male was calling and running along the road trying to get my attention.

As I was heading home a loon was flying by and you could hear his call...
On our lane home there were a pair of grey jays shaking themselves. They must have just had a bath in the water sitting beside the trail.

I so enjoy the birds and animals in our area and I hope you did too!

There is some great imagery here.
The Grey Jay, the first Raven shot, and that second horse shot are really engaging.
Thank-you! I'm glad you enjoyed them! Do you do any photography?
Some, yes, but not much nature photography.
Goodness to you and yours. 🙂
Brimming with life after winter, how quickly your region turns from snow covered white into gorgeous green filled with life.
Thanks for sharing the bird life, entertaining in how they all react in forest each with a unique call.
Always relaxing to see horses, another wonderful walk thanks for sharing.

Wonderful pictures, @porters. It's so wonderful to see all that nature... just out there doing what nature does! Like the kildeer's broken wing trick!
Wow! Looks like a very big and green space with a lot of room to stretch your legs for a #wednesdaywalk.
