Hive is a community where users are rewarded for sharing their views, voices and make contributions.
Hive is a community just like every other social media sites. But while others extract value from the users, for the benefit of their shareholders, Hive believes that the users of the platform should receive the benefits and rewards for their views and contributions they make on the platform. In Hive posting, commenting and voting is free, rather the user gets paid for his contributions.
Hive is an open platform that hosts and welcomes any legal content that applies with our terms of service. The users can post anything they want, be it phrases, quotes, blog, anecdotes, photos, videos, memes, songs and more. Just be creative! That is all.
In posting contents in Hive, you have to avoid plagiarism, spam and abuse. If you post plagiarized or copied content, you can get in legal trouble for violating copy write laws by community members.
Some spam and abuse you must avoid while posting in Hive:
- Asking for money, views, upvotes, follows or reblogs.
- Leaving nearly identical or materially similar comments on multiple posts.
- Comments that are unrelated to the topic of discussion.
- Sending unsolicited links or requests to users via wallet memos.
- Posting that requires upvotes to enter or play in a contest or game.
- Sending users a link to your blog or a post if it is not relevant to the conversation.
- Posts or comments that includes tittle or nothing more than an offer to trade follows or upvotes.
- Using tags that are unrelated to the post.
- Threatening users with any type of physical violence.
- Not citing sources when using someone else's material.
- Posting 'not safe for work' content without using the 'nsfw' tag.
- Selling or offering to bring votes, reblogs, follows or schemes that facilitates this.
When using contents not originally yours, properly reference the sources where you got it from and make sure you have the right to use it.
HOW DOES HIVE WORK?
Among many websites powered by Hive blockchain and hive crypto currency, Hive blog is one of them.
On daily basis, the Hive blockchain mines new Hive tokens and adds them to the community's reward pool. These tokens are in turn awarded to users for their contributions, based on the votes their contents receives. Users with more tokens called 'Hive Power' decides where larger portion of the reward pools is distributed.
Hive is not a get rich quick scheme, but it is possible to post a content that goes viral quickly and earn lots of reward on a single post. This is not typical for most users.
Most of the authors earning high rewards are users that spent time in building network (ie following, making connections with others, and developing a reputation for bringing high quality content).
As a newbie, work on building network (ie following, making connections and developing good reputations). Consistency will pay off in the long run. It is best to have a realistic expectations, without focusing on rewards when you are first starting.
