Great tip, @monica-ene. Potatoes are a great crop to plant in two batches, giving you fresh tubers for immediate use and the rest to store for the long term. That kind of planning is what separates the hobby gardener from the serious homesteader. 👏
I agree, half the battle is weed control. Great work on the harvest and I look forward to those local potato recipes when the busy season slows down!
Thank you so much for the encouraging words. Do you also eat potatoes over there. Maybe sweet potatoes or the Irish ones?
"Oh yes, we eat them all the time! Mostly the standard white/Yukon Gold for mashing and roasting. I don’t usually grow sweet potatoes here but Irish potatoes are definitely a staple in our kitchen. 🥔"
Wow.
Irish potatoes are available here too and quite expensive, I haven't tried growing any of those, I do purchase from the market.
Much of what we grow are the potatoes and yams.
Do have a nice day
Irish potatoes are expensive in the market, which is why growing your own is a smart thing to do. You save money and get fresh tubers, too. 👏
Yams are a great addition to the mix too – they store well and are very versatile in cooking. Have a great day and happy harvesting!
