3D Printing Tying Tools, Tying Thread, Plow, Crocus, Engine, NHL - Wednesday

in Homesteading2 days ago

A day of printing yesterday started with the the cross bars being done from the overnight print. I borked a few by not seeing the rotated ones were upside down so were not the best. I managed to salvage them save one I had to reprint.

I found a good thread holder for tying and started printing out versions searching for the right settings to make them smoother.

The thread rack went together and I got the threads I had on hand loaded onto it.

This one came out shitty!

Stoked the thread rack fits perfectly inside my case.

I remembered that I had dumped off about half the threads from my tying kit years ago and they were now sitting in the craft studio. So after raiding the bin and rescuing them I ended up with a very nice and full rack.

Most of the spectrum covered.

It's always nice when the plow comes through. Given it is to rain the next days this will give us a nice and clear road likely by the end of the day today.

The PET-G just isn't the best for these tools but good for getting settings setup.

I ended up with a number of these that are kinda throw away or just too rough to really use well.

Hauled a 5 gallon jug of water to the studio to have for the plants and I found the saffron crocus are growing quite nicely. They are reaching for the light so are a bit lanky but they are growing!

I fucked around with the shitty nut on the valve cover for a while trying to come up with some way to get it loose but then I FINALLY realized that it is irrelevant!!!!! I have no need to take the passenger side valve cover off as I don't need the extra space on that side of the engine.

I need the room on the driver side where the starter is and the access to the bolts of the coupler plate. By the time I made this rather simple deduction it was mid afternoon and I was not feeling in any mood to climb under the truck. That is today's task.

I swapped out to PLA and and managed to get the tool to print rather nice with some really reduced parameters.

They are 2 hours each so with this one done right before bed I got a plate of 4 going which will be done in about half an hour from now.

Watched SJ get crushed by the Caps and GR8 keeps pounding in goals. It would be great to have him get past 1000 before he hangs up his skates.

Today I get the boys to school, the printer is about done with the set of 4 green tools and I will swap t gray for another plate of 4 that will print out over the entire day. It's snowing right now but should turn to rain after sun up. I will work on the truck and really hope to get the engine out onto the stand today. I'll pick R up after STEM and then figure out what to make for dinner this evening.
