Look to the top left, over the roofs of my house and garage
It sure made a lot of noise. Woke me up at 6:39 am, I thought someone was pounding on my door

This is what I saw when I looked out that side door↑
Later, once the clearing had begun

It is unclear exactly where my property line runs, we suspect it runs THROUGH that tree or immediately next to it, so I cannot be liable for this damage, BUT the owners of that rental only paid for the downed limb to be removed, but did nothing about what will happen very shortly I'm afraid

That is my house behind this tree, it is adjacent to my driveway

Currently, this is how it looks out my side door

I DID get a little firewood from it, thanks to the guys who were doing the cutting up

So now, do I contact MY insurance company about the remaining, dangerous part of the tree?
The Rental Company is notoriously hard to get in contact with, who knows if they'll spring for going in on halfsies.
Prior to this event, on last Friday an 85 yr old lady down at the bottom of the hill had asked me to replace the hose sprayer in her sink.

I can no longer get down under a sink, but I was able to remove the broken one, then went to Lowe's
And bought a new nozzle and installed it for her. I only accepted the $4.84 change from the $100 bill she gave me.
So she contacted a friend of hers in Powder Springs

And bragged about getting her sink fixed. That lady wanted me to come and fix HERS as well.
So Saturday, I did, which required another trip to the store for a part.
THIS time, I accepted the $60 she pushed on me (she asked how much she owed me, I said $20... nope, she handed me 3 $20 bills and wouldn't change her mind.)
There are several more plumbing type things she really needs done, so we shall see

That was such a big tree! I can't get over that shot of you standing beneath it! 🙀 Momma always told me to say, "No" to crack, but yours looks awfully nice... 🤣
Why thank you ma'am 😜
Depending on the laws of the state as to the property rulings in a case like this.
By logic and reason, if the tree is on the rental property, the owner is liable for damages to anything the tree destroys or damages, once you've established the property line. You may need to have a surveyor come out and survey the properties to establish jurisdiction, and I'm not sure as to what the homeowners insurance rules are in a case like this.
Couple of years ago, I contacted a surveyor, to do just my propery perimeter survey would be over $2,000. I'm not prepared to drop that much just to establish the location of an imaginary line, not yet at least.

The Ga Power guy yesterday told me that the power company tries to place power poles at the intersection of properties along streets, which is what we thought.
So knowing that as a reference, if we assume the location of the back corner, the property line will fall almost dead center of that tree
The tree that fell is inside the yellow circle.
Oh wow, that may mean you might have to split the cost 50 / 50!
Also, if anything got damaged in your yard, their insurance would probably be picking up the tab if the tree was in his yard.
Not sure what all the requirements are for support and guidance you have there since you're 3000 miles away.
I would go for 50/50 taking out the remaining tree, or at least trimming the limbs up high to make it less dangerous, but that's crazy, it makes better sense to take the whole thing out
Yes, if > 50% of the tree is broken off, absolutely, remove the rest if all of the remaining limbs are making it topheavy. They would have to open up the canopy so that the canopy is not a big wind sail.
