HELLO HIVE
After efforts to help the kid began to show good signs, the mother, who wasn't feeding her kid at first, began to feed it, but just when we thought everything was now okay, we noticed that the breast of the doe was swollen on one side and reddish, which were serious signs of infection.
The infection has now been properly managed using an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic dose that has helped reduce the inflammation drastically, but then there's still a lot of work left to prevent any occurrence like this in the future.
Proper hygiene and constant doses of antibiotics are the best ways to curb this. The shelter has to be cleaned on a regular basis, including every one of their feeding equipment.
We have to give the same level of hygiene that we give to ourselves to these animals because they need it. It doesn't have to be on the same level as the hygiene at home, but a good farmer has to pay good attention to the hygiene of the animals before any disease would begin to flourish in that environment.
Simple cleaning would go a long way; this will clean up their dung. Animals can't clean up their waste; that's what farmers are meant to do, and any delay in doing so would leave the waste lying around, exposing these animals to it.
Cleaning goat dung is much easier because of the way it is formed, and you can do that with the help of a 🧹 broom.
The waste becomes organic manure for the farmer to use on the farm or to sell to other farmers for their farming because of the demands it has now.
Inorganic fertilizers are becoming expensive now, so it is not ideal to leave something that's as precious as this waste without properly 🧹 cleaning and bagging it in different bags until when it's needed.
Cleaning the shelter took less than 15 mins of my time, an activity that almost cost me a doe that's now very expensive to buy.
