Farming in this part of the world is really frustrating, we have to toil against harsh weather conditions and put in so much labour to be able to grow the foods we eat.
Almost all our activities are done manually as there are fewer mechanical tools for assist with the cultivation of Land and other activities that machines can help us to do to ease our labour.
The weather is even the worst of it all. Gradually everything has turned to the extreme. Extremely hotness and high temperature from the sun, shortened period of rainfall and even drought in between farming season.
Even after carrying out your calculations on the best time to sow your seed the weather is now totally unpredictable that our best isn't enough.
Look at how our beans plants are drying up really fast.
The last week of November was when we had any downpour last, the rains stopped abruptly signalling the end of the raining seasons for the year.
The soil under our plants began to dry up almost immediately. Aside the rains we often have other source of water droppings that often keep our plants alive for a good period of time before the dryness takes over this year but it's quite unfortunate that there are now dews at night or any forms of water droplets from the sky to keep this crops alive
Normally beans are meant to produce their food at least 3-4X for us to harvest before they finally dry up.
Meaning that when they start producing foods the process happens continuously. We go to harvest the first set of beans you see here , then thesame set of plant produces another set of beans which we harvest again and then come back for a final harvest before the plant finally dries up. This often makes the quantity of beans we harvest plentious, it increases yield but I don't see that happening this year.
The plant are already drying up due to lack of water and harvest and this is the first categories of beans we would be harvesting. This means that there will be no more harvest after this very first time.
I wonder where mechanized farming is being carried out in this state or if the state is serious about farming at all because most of the foods grown and eating by the people of this state is being done by the rural farmers in our communities and villages and every of those peasant farmers often suffer this challenges with farming every year.
