I'm glad I came across your post. Actually, we have been dealing with pests on our Okra plant, and the hot chili solution seems not enough to drive the pests away, if not kill them. I haven't heard of using ashes before, thanks for this idea. I think I should try using it. Worms are eating the fruits, and they are living in the stems, they're making holes and making use of the leaves as their homes, they curl the leaves and live there. I hope this works against worms, too.
