One profound knowledge every believer should know and have is contained in the above verses (Luke 9:1-3 MSG). We've been commissioned to not just be believers, but disciples (Matthew 28:19-20). And as disciples, we have an assignment; to preach the goodness of God's kingdom with signs and wonders following.
In the above screenshot, we read Jesus giving His disciples authority and power over demons and sicknesses and He commissions them to preach the gospel everywhere they go. A statement from verse three really stood out for me. Keep it simple, you are the equipment. That's a bold statement if you ask me.
So, what exactly was Jesus trying to say, as regards believers today? He saying, we don't just have the gifts of the Spirit in us, we become the gift. Why? Because the Spirit lives in us! Let's take healing for instance. The believer doesn't just have the gift of healing, but has become healing because he or she carries the healer on the inside. So when we come across sickness, we only have healing to give.
Then again, this is a reminder for us, that we manifest the gifts of the Spirit not because we prayed for it or "prepared" for it, or we "loaded ourselves up with equipments". No. We manifest the gifts because we have the Spirit of God, because we are sons of God. We are the equipment!
