"See Palava!"

Imagine being mocked by your best friends on your birthday due to your haircut which they tag “awkward.” That pain and feeling to impress them afterwards was my drive to make a decision that looked so easy at first but turned into a full-blown problem.

I had this circle of friends from high school. We are just three and the amazing fact about our friendship is that we share consecutive birthdays for successive months. My birthday remains 26th May, while Abel’s birthday is 27 June and Chiboy, 28 July. This wasn't the bind to our friendship but just more like a coincidence.

After graduation from high school, I decided to let my hair grow big but during my birthday a few months ago, I decided to lower the hair to a “low cut” style. Some friends who visited my birthday mocked me saying I looked awkward. Abel couldn't hold it till he approached and we had a conversation.

Abel: Chuks, why did you choose such a hairstyle for a special day like this, you look like a clown? 😂

Me: Bro, I just want to look corporate, that's the aim.

Abel: Your babe is going to leave you for another man cos of this haircut😂?

He kept on laughing as he said all this. But I just tried to control my mood by keeping up a warm smile saying “the hair will grow back bro!”
After that day, I made a decision to keep my hair growing without having a haircut till Abel's birthday. I thought this was easy as I thought but it was a nightmare for me.

In my family, we are known to have a fast hair growth rate which most times forces me to have a regular haircut after every two weeks. To impress friends and regain my self-esteem, I decided to go weeks without having a haircut. Every morning after bathing, my hair will always have this tattered look. I'm always left with no choice than to use a comb to straighten my puffy hair. This is a whole lot of stress and the pain is unbearable.

The pain I pass through to comb my hair is equivalent to that a pregnant woman would experience during labor. Every morning when I bathe and I comb my hair before leaving, what normally comes to my mind when I remember the pain I'm about to pass through remains “who sent me, what have I done?” Funny enough, it normally seems like there's something inside me that would reply, “you sent yourself bro!😂

My happiness remains that I passed through the mission because I was able to keep that hair till 27th June and attended Abel's birthday. Guess what? On my return from Abel's birthday, I didn't hesitate to visit the barbing salon first before reaching home. It was indeed a decision I made thinking it's easy but later turned out to be a “tanker of problems.”

Haha, this had me laughing so much, but I’m glad you finally hit the barbing salon—heroic patience! 😂

Visiting the barbing salon saved me from further consequences of my decision, yeah.

Even my small round cut, if I forgot to comb it immediately after having my bath, I would feel a severe pain when I comb when the hair is dried.

I give kudos to guys that keep their hair. Na magic to me😅

Thanks friend for stopping by.
I'm happy you can relate 😂
