Here I'm writing about rumors of layoffs by my then employer, the first class of a new master's degree program I was starting (including some books and other supplies to get), plus a few other things... I never got around to writing that novel, lol.

!Rumors of another round of layoffs. Apparently there is a plan to layoff 15% from the Eastern Region. Don't know how the local area will be affected.

  • textbooks for first class:
Applying UML and Patterns: An Introduction to Object-Oriented Analysis and Design and the Unified Process and Iterative Development 3rd Edition, Craig Larman, Prentice-Hall PTR, 2002 (46.19 Amazon)

Ok, so I got this little book to write in in the hopes that it will help me to be a little better organized. Also, I'm hoping that making myself write more will inspire and help me to write a novel. The beginnings of that (background, etc.) are being put down in another one of these books.

I'm kind of excited about starting a new Master's degree program at work (through FIT). I'm not sure why exactly. I just finished a

Computer Science Master's degree through Webster about a year ago. It was a relief when I finished, but at the same time, I've missed it. I guess it's hard for me to turn down a free education (and a free laptop). I'm still worried about the potential for more layoffs at work. Hopefully I'll survive it if it happens. We'll see how it goes I suppose.

As far as the first class goes, I'm just about ready. I've ordered the books, bought some notebooks (1 large version of this notebook in gridded form and a package of the cahiers). I even picked up some pens recently (for writing in these). I also ordered a new backpack. I have on that's not that old but the one I ordered is a nice leather one.

It's interesting that after using a PDA for note taking last time around, I have a strong desire to get back to pen and paper. I do still want to transcribe things to the electronic side though. And speaking of paper:

So interesting to read your historical notes! How did the Master's go and your plan for writing practice?

The Master's degree program went great...the writing...well, that's stayed more as a vague plan still :).

Was this written using one of these? The ink stains look familiar to me :)

Lol, yes, exactly like that. I usually either one of those or a Pilot G2. I'd like to try a fountain pen one of these days but seems like too much work.

They're the best pens in the world! :)
