Manchester United MUST Sign One More Center Forward After Rasmus Højlund!

Despite the initial reports of Manchester United's modest 120M pound budget, the team tasked with closing transfer deals have managed to do the impossible, squeezing water out of the dry rock they had been handed by the glazers.

The sale of some deadwood in the team and some couch change has helped the club to finally launch their pursuit for a much needed striker.

Earlier in the transfer window, there were some brief reports that Manchester United had made an enquiry on the availability of Harry Kane. As is to be expected, such enquiries were rebuffed and the club swiftly moved on to other critical positions.

That critical action which led to the recent signing of Rasmus Højlund all but ends the conversation around a late bid for Kane, whom I believe was the main summer target for Ten Hag. One would think that the 72M fee that was spent would have gone towards paying for Kane's services.

However, the Spurs owner, Daniel Levy likes to drive a hard bargain. The last thing Man United would have wanted is to find themselves without a fit striker late in the window, especially since it was revealed that PSG and an unnamed Premier League club were flirting with the idea of signing Højlund. Ironically, I believe that was Tottenham looking for a striker replacement if the Kane to Bayern deal went through.

Now that Rasmus Højlund has been signed, many are questioning if he goes straight into the starting 11. Being only 20 years old, it is hard to see him start every week. I believe the manager intends to have Martial as the main striker. However, with Martial's fitness record, I doubt Højlund will be deputy for very long.

It is why I believe and most Man United fans believe that a third striker is key. Talk of West Ham's Gianluca Scamacca has suddenly come out of nowhere, but it is clear he wants to return to Italy. There is just something about Italian players and wanting to go back to Italy when things get difficult.

Must be the English cuisine.

Also, he hasn't exactly lit up the Premier League, although it is hard to judge him while he is playing under Moyes.

Beyond Scamacca, it is challenging to think of any other experienced strikers who could come in and take most of the pressure away from Højlund.

The ideal situation would be Man United stalking Bayern every step of the way until they agree a fee for Kane with Daniel Levy. Assuming the club will have the money to match or exceed Bayern's fee, they should then attempt to hijack the deal and test Kane's resolve to continue playing in the Premier League.

Surely, if Man United were to offer a similar or higher fee, the player's choice of club would be what carries the day?

One can only dream. Having a potential striker line-up of Kane, Højlund and Martial would be incredible. Wining the league would be the minimum expectation, and most fans would agree. Either way, we must have one more striker be it a loan or a permanent transfer.

Sort:

The chances of you or any EPL side signing Kane this year are minuscule. You’d definitely have to far exceed any offer that a club outside the EPL makes for us to entertain letting him leave.

The only realistic chance you have for Kane in the immediate future is getting him on a free next year.

If you agree a fee with Bayern, why would the fee be significantly higher for a premier league club? That doesn't make any sense. Obviously, we would have to pay a few million more but I don't think it would be that much.

And if Kane would prefer to go to a Premier League club, why would he okay the move to Bayern knowing he could leave for free the next year to the PL club? I don't think Spurs have any bargaining power in such a scenario!

Because we don't want to sell him to another Premier League club ...

I wouldn't worry, you're not bidding for him anyway!

Low key, would be good for FPL if he leaves the PL.
