Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. The International break is still in effect, as club football has yet to resume. However, the return of club football wouldn't be pleasant for FC Barcelona, as some key players are currently out due to injury. The injury list continues to increase as now Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo are the latest players in the squad to pick up an injury during this international break. One thing is clear from the injury list: Barcelona currently lacks a striker in its squad.
Lewandowski, who is the main striker, is out, and Ferran Torres, who is the club's second striker, is always out, which brings us to the big question: Who will be the number 9 when the international break is over? The obvious answer would be Marcus Rashford, but even the Englishman is injured as he looked to have picked up something after the match against Sevilla before the International break. This will put Hansi Flick in a difficult situation in selecting players for the upcoming matches this month, and most importantly, the El Clásico match, which is one or two weeks from now.
The season is still early, and I believe there is still time to catch up, even though Barcelona are two points down behind Real Madrid in the league table. What I am worried about is the injuries that have constantly affected the squad, and some would say it's the amount of playing time these key players are receiving, but that is not the case, as Hansi Flick is doing a good job of rotating players this season to avoid these kinds of injuries in the squad. Last season, I questioned whether the medical staff were doing their job right with the fitness of the players, and now I am questioning the work of the medical team again.
They did a good job with Pedri. I wouldn't deny that, as the Spanish midfielder has gone long for quite some time now without getting injured with the consistent matches he has gotten from last season up till now for both club and country. The medical team needs to step up their game to find solutions to minimise the injuries happening to the players on the squad. The International duties also contribute to these issues, which is why Hansi Flick has called out Spain's national team head coach for not managing Lamine Yamal well during the last International break.
This is one of the reasons Barcelona made that report, which I believe is false, about Lamine Yamal picking up another injury just before the International break to keep him from joining the Spain national team. Hansi Flick has a lot to do in figuring out how to manage the team this period and win matches with the low squad depth at his disposal. I just hope some of the players recover before the El Clásico game this month, and hopefully the rest fully recover for the long season that still awaits. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
