There came a time when there has been a battle of boybands especially in late 1990s to early 2000s. The most remarkable one is between Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, which was both formed by the same person. Eventually, the two groups are signed in the same label, and the battle for first week sales became a thing.
Backstreet Boys initially scored the fastest first week sales in 1999 with their album "Millennium" which raked in more than 1.1 million. However, in early 2000, NSYNC has broken the record selling 2.4 million off their album "No Strings Attached". Note, the numbers were based from US sales..
"No Strings Attached" was successful both in sales and its singles. It was preceded by the dance-pop tune "Bye, Bye, Bye", which was a global hit. It reached number 4 in Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 in Mainstream chart. It was a top 3 hit in UK Singles Chart.

"It's Gonna Be Me" was released as the second single off "No Strings Attached", and it gave the group their first number 1 hit in Billboard Hot 100, while it is also a chart-topper at the Mainstream chart. In United Kingdom, it managed to peak at number 9.

Shortly after the release of "It's Gonna Be Me", their song "I'll Never Stop" was released in certain territories particularly in Europe and Asia. It was a number 13 hit in UK Singles Chart.
The final single was the ballad "This I Promise You", which was penned by Richard Marx. It became a number 5 hit Billboard Hot 100, while reaching number 21 in UK Singles Chart.

"No Strings Attached" held its record as teh fastest selling album in a week until it was broken by Adele's "25" after more than 15 years. It has gone to sell with estimates around 14 million copies in United States alone.
