Traditional Food In Asia- Jilapi

in CCH10 months ago

One of our favorite dishes is the “jelapi”. It has many reputations as a sweet food. Jilapi is widely popular in three countries of the Asian continent namely Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. There are some Jalapi shops in these countries that sell Jalapi traditionally and some Jalapis are so delicious that the fame of these Jalapis has spread worldwide.

Historically, it is known that in the countries of Asia or the Indian subcontinent, food like Jilapi started to be popularized by the hands of Muslims. Gelapi is a popular street food. Making jelly is very easy. Jilapi can be made very easily by combining sugar, flour, rice powder, baking soda, soybean oil etc.

The scenes of Jilapi making in the market are quite eye-catching. Those who make Jilapi in the market are skilled artisans, so they can make beautiful Jilapi. There are several famous Jilapi shops in our area. Jilapi at Habra Hut located near Parvatipur is very delicious. Several Jilapi shops sit here on market days.

Jilapi is eaten on the occasion of joy in various festivals. Jilapi is sold in the traditional fairs of the village. During fasting we like to eat Jilapi for Iftar. Jilapi is one of the foods served as Milad in mosques.

There are many types of jelly. Earlier sugar jelly was more popular. Currently jaggery jelly is more popular. There are some variations of jillapi depending on the region. I took today's pictures from the traditional Aftabganj fair.

Presently gold-plated Jilapi is being sold in the famous Intercontinental Hotel in Bangladesh. Gold-wrapped Jilapi is priced at Tk 20,000 per kg. There are some traditional Jilapi shops in Old Dhaka, where Jilapi of different shapes are available at a much cheaper price and hopefully they are much tastier than the gold-wrapped Jilapi.

This dessert looks interesting. Is it fried or baked? I see the different colors. What makes the variations in the color?

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, it's fried. Jaggery makes the variation in the color. Thank you.

We call in India jalebi. Nice post dada
