That afternoon, with my old smartphone that I often rely on, I took a picture of wooden boats belonging to the coastal residents of Aceh. The boats were lined up on the edge of the beach, as if waiting for a new story to be sailed. The sun that was starting to lean to the west reflected its light on the surface of the water, creating a warm nuance that was perfect for capturing.
I chose a slightly different angle. Among the wild plants called widuri, I found a unique view. Widuri with its thick green leaves was like a natural frame for the boats. This will be an interesting photo, I thought while adjusting the camera's focus.
The boats looked magnificent in their simplicity, as if symbolizing the struggles of coastal communities. Every scratch on the wood told of the storms they had faced, and every folded sail held hope for the next journey. I felt a simple, yet very profound beauty.
Meanwhile, the gentle sea breeze blew carrying a distinctive salty aroma. The widuri standing firmly in the wind seemed to be a silent witness to all the activities on the beach. I had a moment to reflect on how nature is always able to bring harmony, even in seemingly simple randomness.
When the photo was saved in my phone gallery, I felt there was something more than just a picture. The photo was a small story about an afternoon on the coast of Aceh, about ships, widuri plants, and a little happiness that comes from simple things.
