Wow, what a crazy few months it's been :)
We re-launched ListNerds a few months ago and so far, the journey on the blockchain has been a blast!
So many amazing people have embraced this platform and it's become a sneaky way to drive traffic and a lot of engagement to your posts on Hive. And obviously, not just Hive based content...We've got goals to attract a wider audience with the side benefit of bringing more people to Hive.
But as much fun as it's been, we're always looking to improve. We released 'the shaky shaky' message reveal a few weeks ago and that was well received but we're never satisfied lol
So this week we introduced 2 new features to the platform:
Reputation Scores & Chances
Let's go over each of them so that you have an understanding of what both new features bring to ListNerds :)
Reputation Scores
One of the main reasons we wanted to bring upvoting and downvoting content in ListNerds was for the community to decide what had value to the platform and what needed more work. And so far it's been working, however we think we can improve upon that.
We have over 1600 new members that have joined ListNerds since we relaunched and there is a learning curve for them when it comes to this being on the blockchain...So they have very little resource credits when they first join. Heck, most won't even understand what resource credits are. And the 'RC's in ListNerds which allows you to vote, is staked CTP.
And they have limited votes, but in order to earn from validating email messages, they have to vote. But what should they vote on?
That's where reputation scores come in as they can see what content the community feels should be front and center. The higher the reputation from a ListNerds member, HOPEFULLY they can be assured that creator is providing value to the community!
So here's how the scores are based:
everyone starts with 25
range is from 0-100
<25 is a below average 'Nerd (red)
26-74 is an average 'Nerd (blue)
75-100 is an awesome 'Nerd (green)
- Weight is based on your current reputation, the higher your rep, the less it affects your score
Standard weighting:
A rep of 0-25 upvote receives +1
A rep of 0-25 downvote receives -0.5
26-50 upvote is +.75
26-50 downvote is -.37
51-75 upvote is +.50
51-75 downvote is -.25
76-100 upvote is +.25
76-100 downvote is -.12
Note: The goal is to not have someones reputation destroyed because of a single downvote.
Votes are additionally weighted based on voters stake, the higher the voters stake, the more impact a vote will be, but not so high that it drops someone from 70 to 0 with one vote
Additional weighted vote based on stake uses a simple formula of multiplying total voters stake by .005% so someone with a stake of 3000 will have an additional vote weight of 0.15
The goal of the reputation is to help newer people figure out which senders are the best to read and vote on if they have limited votes, the goal is not to downvote someone to oblivion because "I have a bigger stake than you and I don't like you".
VERY IMPORTANT: Your LISTNERDS & CTP earnings are NEVER affected by what your reputation scores are. No one can downvote away your earnings on ListNerds.
Chances
We also added a fun little bonus game for ListNerds members that purchase and stake LISTNERDS tokens in the form of what we are calling 'Chances'.
How does it work?
Simply buy and stake ListNerds on the market and then click on 'Chances' on the bottom left of the members area.
If you have purchased LISTNERDS a button will show that brings up the game board....
Simply choose a 'Nerd and see if you have won.
If you bought and staked 5 LISTNERDS, you have the chance to win....5 LISTNERDS.
If you bought and staked 50 LISTNERDS, you have the chance to win 50 LISTNERDS.
And so on...
We think this is a fun way to help reward investors and purchasers of the LISTNERDS token and those that want to see this platform succeed and we hope you enjoy it!!

Just wondering, but I think I saw that reputation might also affect the MAIL you get. Is this based on your reputation or the sender's reputation?

It's based on your reputation, though even if you get a lower reputation, you will always get the minimum MAIL depending on your Membership. You can check the MAIL per click range inside the Upgrades page.

You will always get MAIL either upvoting or downvoting. What's changing with the reputation feature is that there's a quantity range depending on your reputation and membership :)
