A big hello to all my friends at Photography! I'm back again to participate in our good friend @friendlymoose's contest. This time the theme is clouds, and I must admit I had serious doubts about being able to make this post because I was feeling quite unwell, with a fever and little appetite. So I stayed home all day drinking herbal teas and regaining my strength with soup. But then inspiration struck, and I decided to take photos of the clouds from my balcony throughout the day to observe the appearance and shape of the different clouds I captured with my phone.
So, I started by taking the first photo at 10 am (the first photo on the left). I was feeling awful and was drinking lemon balm tea, and after eating an arepa, as you can see, the first wave of small clouds began to appear from Cerro Ávila, gradually covering the Caracas valley. The second image on the right was taken at 2 pm, and as you can see, there's no difference; it looks like the same time. This is what I always talk about regarding my tropical city: we always have radiant sunshine and such an intense blue sky that it always feels like we're in a perpetual summer from 9 am to 4 pm—literally a beach. By that time, I had already eaten some soup and had another herbal tea. I was feeling better and enjoyed these shots more. A large white cloud looks like the mothership hovering over the city.

I took a short nap after lunch. When I woke up, the fever had gone down. To further improve and reduce the fever, I drank another infusion of lemon balm and took these photographs at 5 pm. You can already see how the sunlight begins to project from the west, generating the sloping shadows of the buildings. Curiously, the clouds seem to be retreating, hiding behind the mountains and leaving a clear sky.

And well, friends, as evening approached, during twilight, I wanted to add these last two photos, taken at 6 pm. We see the clouds taking refuge behind Mount Ávila. The appearance of the clouds is interesting, that grayish hue resulting from the sun's red radiation. My nephew kept asking me why it looks like that, so I tried to find a simple way to explain it to him. In the early morning until midday, the sun's rays hit the sky perpendicularly, so the light passes through the atmosphere from the point of shortest distance. Therefore, the wavelength reflected by the atmosphere is that intense blue. But when the sun sets, the light travels through a larger area of the atmosphere, so the sky reflects light in the red range, which is why we have those beautiful twilight sunsets. By the end of the day, I felt better and more motivated to write this post, in which I wanted to share this interesting temporal perspective of the clouds from a fixed location: my balcony. Un gran saludo amigos de Photography! Vuelvo nuevamente a participar en el concurso de nuestro buen amigo @friendlymoose, en esta ocasión tenemos la temática de nubes, y debo reconocer que tenía serias dudas de poder hacer este post porque realmente me sentía bastante mal, con fiebre y poco a apetito, así que me mantuve todo el día en casa tomando infusiones y recuperando fuerzas con una sopa. Pero entonces me llegó la inspiración y decidí cada cierto tiempo tomar fotos de las nubes de mi balcón a lo largo del día y ver el aspecto y forma de las distintas nubes que iba capturando con mi móvil.
Así, comencé tomando una primera foto a las 10 de la mañana (la primera foto de la izquierda), me sentía fatal y estaba tomándome una infusión de hojas de toronjil y después de comí una arepa, como puedes ver comienzan aparecer desde el Cerro Ávila una primera avanzada de pequeñas nubes que van cubriendo el valle de Caracas. La segunda imagen a la derecha ya es una captura a las 2 pm y como puedes ver no ninguna diferencia, pareciera que es la misma hora y es de lo que siempre hablo de mi ciudad tropical siempre tenemos un un sol radiante y cielo tan azul intenso que siempre parece que estuviéramos en un verano perenne desde las 9 am hasta las 4 pm, literalmente una playa. A esa hora ya había comido una sopa y tomado otra infusión, me sentía mejor y disfruté mejor de estas tomas, una gran nube blanca parece como la nave matriz que se cierne sobre la ciudad.

Tomé una pequeña siesta después del almuerzo, al despertar la fiebre había bajado, para terminar de mejorar y aplacar la fiebre me tomé otra infusión de toronjil y tomé estas fotografías a las 5 pm y ya se puede ver como la luz del sol comienza a proyectarse desde el oeste generando las inclinadas sombras de los edificios, curiosamente las nubes parecen estar replegándose, ocultándose en las montañas y dejando un cielo despejado.

Y bien amigos ya al final de la tarde, durante el crepúsculo, quisé añadir estas últimas 2 fotos ya a las 6 pm, vemos la nubes refugiarse tras el cerro Ávila es interesante el aspecto que toman las nubes , ese grisáceo de las nubes porducto de la radiación roja del sol. Mi sobrino me preguntaba porque se ve así y bueno trate de encontrar una forma didáctica de explicarle que a las primeras horas de la mañana hasta el mediodía la radiación de sol cae perpendicularmente así que la luz al atravesar la atmosfera lo hace desde el punto de menor recorrido así que la longitud de onda que refleja la atmósfera es ese azul intenso, pero cuando se pone el sol la luz recorre una mayor superficie de la atmósfera así que el cielo nos refleja la luz en el rojo y es la razón de porque tenemos esos hermosos atardeceres crepusculares. Espero que les haya gustado mi participación en este maravilloso concurso, al final del día ya me sentí mejor y con ánimo para escribir esta publicación la cual quise darle esta interesante perspectiva temporal de las nubes a través de un sitio fijo: mi balcón.
