A Walk on the Canal Towpath

in Photographyyesterday

We had a stroll on the local canal this morning. It was a bit chilly first thing but soon warmed up.

Madeline is a trip boat belonging to the Canal Trust. The boat was renovated by a local school and is run by volunteers. At Christmas, you can book a ride on it to meet Santa Claus. 🙂

On the side of the towpath, it looked lovely with the changing of the colours on the trees. There were lots of reflections in the water.

The route is mostly flat and the towpath is a reasonably good surface for wheelchair users, people using mobility scooters, children’s buggies and cycles.

You will find your usual birdlife here with swans, coots, moorhens and ducks and the occasional kingfisher. Although I can't remember seeing one bird this morning.

We walked up to the lock and back again. It was perfect walking conditions, flat and not too far. You do have watch out for speeding cyclists, though.

This canal looks very charming and well preserved some canals in my area are not so neat a good place for walk also with the dog.

Thank you. There's been a lot of restoration work done to make it look good. 🙂
