A Winter Walk along the Monsal Trail

in Photography5 months ago

A few more photos of the snow. It didn't stick around for too long, but it is always welcome for a day or so, and then it can go!

I can't believe how something so delicate can survive such cold days.

The park was empty today. No children playing out. It was far too murky.

We made our way onto the Monsal Trail that used to be part of the Midland Railway line, from 1863 to 1968. Since its closure the line has been used as a walking, cycling and horse riding route.

It's hard to imagine that trains used to come along here. They wouldn't be running today, though. We aren't very good keeping trains going even if there's only a few flakes on the track!

The walk was very good even on a really cold day and the views had been a bit limited by the mist. Looking back, it's strange how the weather can change go quickly. There's no snow in sight now .... until next time.

And to round off a chilly day out walking, you can warm up with a nice hot drink.
