The weather conditions in the form of fog and frost created just another planet from this place. The silence was so intense that it seemed as if thoughts had a sound!
Nikolskoye is a village in the Ust-Kubinsky district of the Vologda region. It is the administrative center of a rural settlement. Vologda is 110 km away.

I came here for the dugouts and the atmosphere of the ancient village, but I didn't take many shots because of the heavy fog.

It was shining aurora in the sky that night, but the fog covered everything.

I will remember this trip because I had a very bad headache...perhaps due to a magnetic storm or a drop in atmospheric pressure.

It's the quietest place I've ever been in.

I mean the settlements where more than a hundred people live.

Why do they say that silence is oppressive?

We are used to hearing the constant micro-sounds of our vital activity.

And when there are no sounds at all, it creates a feeling of deafness.

I didn't want to walk around Nikolskoye at all, because any rustle would break this silence.

At such moments, you want the wind to blow or a car to pass...at least something would create some sounds...
