Repeated scenes

Let me remind you that I have one long-term street photography project where I intentionally shoot repetitive scenes in the same places. Let me also remind you that one day I discovered similar, sometimes even identical pictures in the same places at different times of the year and began to consciously observe this.

There are already locations with five-year-long recurring scenes!

There are also new places that I photograph on purpose or accidentally in different seasons.

From time to time, I check the folders with the missing plots and go specially to make shots.

Then it is very interesting to observe how this or that place changes over time...or it doesn't change at all.

Along the way, of course, I take pictures not related to this project.

Another year or two and it will be possible to publish whole posts about the history of the same place.

And I have a lot of such places, not only in Vologda, but also in other localities.

I remember that I already showed some results at the initial stage of this project.

I called it street repeat, based on a similar project by Julie Hrudova, who identifies recurring themes and cliches in street photography from different photographers from around the world.

I decided to identify the repetitions in myself and see the positive sides in this seemingly disadvantage.

Sometimes you have to wait for six months or more to take one shot of a place.

This is necessary so that the time of year is different from other images.

Back in Vologda, repairs are underway in many of the places I repeat, which is why it is not possible to make shots.

And somewhere I specifically took pictures so that the renovation of the street would get into the frame so that I could see the changes later.

This is all a necessary and useful chronicle that has always been in demand in the media space.

In general, this is a personal interest, an exploration of the environment and oneself.

There are also moods where I go to the same places, but I consciously avoid repetition and try to do things like I've never done before.

In general, the theme of repetitions of the same place at different times of the year has been interesting to me since the very beginning of my photographic journey.

As a child, I also filmed a lake with houses at different times of the year for six years.

And then I also took pictures with a digital camera, but less often.

Maybe soon I will show some intermediate result.

In other words, I'll show you all the shots of any one place that I've ever taken.

But while the project is in progress, new places are also emerging.

I do not even know yet if this photographing of repetitions has a visible end...
