Bells. Cathedral of Peter and Paul in Sestroretsk

in Photography3 years ago

The Cathedral of the Apostles Peter and Paul was erected in memory of Russian submariners. I myself served on a submarine, so I visit this temple from time to time, I am on friendly terms with its rector, Father Michael.

The place for this was not chosen by chance. According to legend, it was here, on Lake Razliv, in 1721-1725 that the “hidden vessel” was tested - the prototype of a submarine. In 1721, the Russian craftsman-genius, peasant Yefim Nikonov, demonstrated to Emperor Peter I a "hidden vessel" capable of "going under water and knocking a warship to the very bottom."
