Hold that pose!

Some days suck. That’s it. This one could have, but I was stubbornly refusing to let it crush me. One huge issue I take in the post-COVID world we’re in, is businesses that were fortunately enough to survive, dicking with hours of operation. More generally, just a laissez faire attitude to what they sell, quality of that being sold, and overall inconsistency. It does seem like people are just over the idea of working, and my beloved @caffetto has really succumb to it the last few months. Two nights in a row, closing at 9:00p.m., when I had plans made and a late meeting. End rant for now, but I’ll probably vent on this again soon.

I’ll try to sidestep the negative energy, because what I did do was spend a few hours reestablishing my office. If @caffetto is going to fuck around with arbitrary closings and shortening hours, I’ll rely on the one place I can count on; my home. I set up and began editing a few more photos the workshop I co-hosted in Vegas with Cervena Fox. This first photos is of Colorado based model, Samantha. We’ve been longtime Instagram friends so it was a pleasure to meet and work with her for the first time. I love the angles I was able to capture with this moody lighting against her face and frame.

Cervena put this event on. I was the guest photographer, and she helped pose coach some of the models throughout the day and evening. While she was on the table that we used for one of our sets, I decided to snap a few frames. Why wouldn’t you? She’s such an outstanding model. I’ve shot with Cervena a few times now, so we’ve gotten very used to my approach to diegetic lighting. The set was the kind of thing I’m known for. Bones, skulls, occult paraphernalia, and candles everywhere. Even as a spontaneous capture, this one of my favorites.

Lastly, Lisa was one of the models that booked with us for this event. She’s a professional make-up artist and arrived with a finished face. After she sat with my friend Lizette of Silverscreen Vanity, she was ready to adorn a beautiful blue set of lingerie and take to the dining room table. The confluence of warm lamp light and cool window light looked particularly stunning. She was an outstanding model and clearly works close with the industry. I’ve been seeing some of her recent modeling with other Vegas-based photographers and I love that I had a chance to shoot with her as well.
