Aunque, como ya saben, vivo en Valencia, estado Carabobo, con mi esposo Miguel y mi gatita Michi ("Bigote") mi pueblo natal es Valle de la Pascua en el estado Guárico. Su nombre completo es Valle de la Pascua de la Resurrección,
aunque, comunmente le decimos simplemente La Pascua.
La patrona de mi pueblo es la Virgen de La Candelaria, cuya festividad se celebró ayer y se dio comienzo a la semana de festividades que forman parte de las fiestas patronales.
Although, as you know, I live in Valencia, Carabobo state, with my husband Miguel and my kitten Michi ("Mustache"), my hometown is Valle de la Pascua in Guárico state. Its full name is Easter Valley of the Resurrection, although, we commonly call it simply La Pascua.
The patron saint of my town is the Virgin of La Candelaria, whose festivity was celebrated yesterday and began the week of festivities that are part of the patron saint festivities.
Se inició con un desfile de carrozas multicolores y muy alegres, acá les presento las correspondientes al Cicuito Uno, ya que antes cada escuela elaboraba su carroza, más ahora las mismas se han agrupado por circuitos y se elabora una carroza por circuito. Una de las escuelas integrantes del Circuito Uno es la escuela "12 de Octubre", allí trabaja mi hermana Amarilys, a quien ven acá en la foto, ella quien es licenciada en educación y tiene un gran talento natural para todo lo que es manualidades. A cada escuela le correspondió hacer una parte de la carroza, a la escuela donde trabaj mi hermana le tocó hacer esa partecita dorada al lado de la cual se encontraba ella en el momento en que le tomé la foto. Ella me dice que es parte donde aparece en la primera foto la chica disfrazada de arlequín, ese "mundo arlequín" con que se celebra el Carnaval en Alemania y acá en la Colonia Tovar (costumbre que trajeron los alemanes) es porque los esclavos se vestían de esa forma para hacer reir a sus amos.

El 2 de febrero, Día dela Virgen de la Candelaria, es una fecha que en muchas partes de Venezuela se toma como la fecha de clausura de la Navidad. Aunque hay personas que dicen que Navidad concluye el 6 de enero con la llegada delos Reyes Magos, otros dicen que Navidad dura hasta el domingo en que se celebra el bautismo del Señor, para otros muchos la Navidad llega hasta el día de la Candelaria y es ese el día en que se quitan los adornos navideños de casa, se guardan el pesebre y el arbolito en sus respectivas cajitas hasta el año siguiente.

Por supuesto que se le celebró su Misa especial, y en las fiestas patronales siempre habrá un circo que visite nuestra localidad, habrá coleaderas (toroscoleados) exposiciones de animales y de frutos del agro, y un ambiente de alegría y festividad será la nota común en todo nuestro pueblo.
