How a photoshop bug improved my editing workflow

For some idiotic reason that I have Yet to find, my current installation of photoshop decide it won't open photos anymore when I send them from Lightroom ( right click > edit in> adobe photoshop)

I've installed plugins, cleared cache, and deleted preferences (don't do that no matter what... it will take a while for me to recover from this) but nothing helped, I opened the software but didn't bother to also open the image in it... and while I was debating if I should just give up on adobe and get a copy of capture one I tried the Open as Smart Object option. This one works... (hope I won't jinx it) and not only that but it made me realize that if from now on I start using it It will give me a tone of flexibility in my workflow.

By default I tend to work non-destructively so having the background layer uneditable it's not a problem for me, not only that but moving on I could tweak the RAW processing inside of PS while I start editing and this is helpful. Sooo in conclusion thanks Adobe for making such buggy software, it made me a better photographer

I've switched to Capture One but still use Photoshop. The colors for my Sony cameras look so much better. You should give it a try, I think you'd like the color grading options in it.

I tried it a few years ago. My assessment at the time was: it is a great tool, horrible interface. I might give it another try soon if adobe keeps fucking stuff up
