The song I will be performing today is a medley of "Alone by Neeja" and "Daddy Wey Dey Pamper by Moses Bliss". Both songs are written in Nigerian Pidgin English, but not entirely; there are a few parts of the songs that were done in plain English, making it possible for someone who only understands plain English to understand the message of the songs upon hearing them. That notwithstanding, I will be dropping both the English and Spanish translations of the songs below for those who would wish to get the message behind the lyrics.
La canción que voy a interpretar hoy es un popurrí de «Alone», de Neeja, y «Daddy Wey Dey Pamper», de Moses Bliss. Ambas canciones están escritas en inglés pidgin nigeriano, pero no del todo; hay algunas partes de las canciones que están en inglés estándar, lo que permite que alguien que solo entienda inglés estándar pueda comprender el mensaje de las canciones al escucharlas. No obstante, a continuación incluiré las traducciones al inglés y al español de las canciones para aquellos que deseen entender el mensaje que hay detrás de la letra.
The first ("Alone by Neeja") emphasizes the fact that God is always with us and that He is there with us even in our most troubled times. The other ("Daddy Wey Dey Pamper by Moses Bliss") acknowledges the ever-loving nature of God. Here, then, is the message I am trying to pass with my medley: "That God, who is ever-loving, will always be with us even in our most difficult moments and that we have nothing to worry about." We are indeed not alone.
La primera («Alone», de Neeja) destaca el hecho de que Dios siempre está con nosotros y que nos acompaña incluso en los momentos más difíciles. La otra («Daddy Wey Dey Pamper», de Moses Bliss) reconoce la naturaleza siempre amorosa de Dios. Este es, pues, el mensaje que intento transmitir con mi popurrí: «Que Dios, que es siempre amoroso, estará siempre con nosotros incluso en nuestros momentos más difíciles y que no tenemos nada de qué preocuparnos». De verdad que no estamos solos.
As usual, I accompanied the performance with my keyboard. The plan at first was to just sing the two songs, "Alone" first and then the other, but I ended up adding a little something at the end. Though not as planned, I think it came out well, but I would love to hear your opinion. In other words, I would really appreciate you telling me what you think about the performance below.
Como de costumbre, acompañé la actuación con mi teclado. Al principio, la idea era limitarme a cantar las dos canciones, primero «Alone» y luego la otra, pero al final acabé añadiendo un pequeño extra al final. Aunque no salió tal y como había planeado, creo que quedó bien, pero me encantaría conocer tu opinión.
